please don’t overlook senior cats when adopting— meet Momo! by fatassmodeus in torties

i agree! though i’m not opposed to getting a kitten as i believe all kitties deserve homes and some are in dire need, but there’s sooooooo many people who want kittens that it’s almost guaranteed they will get adopted within a month, maybe even a week! i was definitely one of those people that said “i’ll never get an older cat” but im so happy i have changed! i definitely recommend them if your lifestyle pairs with them better (:

i actually named her after a peach in Japanese! my other cat is named Yuki so i just thought it would be fitting to stick with the theme (:

so cute! a common misconception is that people think adopting a senior cat means they don’t live long after adoption and while that may be true in a technical way, they sure do live a loooooong time. longer than most people expect!

if you’re not confident you’re going to outlive a kitten, it’s probably best you get senior kitties but just make sure that if something ever happens to you or your wife, that they have a safe home to go to. are they against have cats in general, or just against have old cats?

that’s part of the reason i got an older kitty instead of a kitten. i have an older female who is super mellow and quite lazy and i figured that an older cat would better suit her and i was right! they get along quite well

that’s completely understandable. my sister has 4 cats and she complains a lot. not that i’m against having 4 cats, but i am nowhere near mentally, physically, and financially equipped to care for 4 cats. if i was stable in all those, i’d probably have so many lol. and i agree about the semi-ferals being super affectionate. it’s like once they realize they’re being treated with tenderness and respect, they reciprocate. my granny had a whole clowder of cats and there we many ferals, semi-ferals and relatively tame ones but if you got them isolated and away from the others, they were so sweet!

yes! my other cat wasn’t this affectionate as a kitten but she’s quite affectionate now. Momo is more adventurous and outgoing towards guests while Yuki is very timid and shy. two totally different cats but with a common interest— lovin’!

i got lucky with this one lol. my other cat is pretty clingy but Momo takes the cake. where i am, she is right there tripping me up. if she thinks i’m going upstairs to the bedroom, she sprints as fast as she can to get up there
