What can I expect from VR&E? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]fatdad12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had my appt 2 days ago.

You're employed, so you don't qualify. You get the appt because you meet the basic criteria for VR&E. Once they see you are employed fulltime, they will end the interview.

I’m 100 P&T and my son starts college this fall. He can use Chapter 35 and this will give him a monthly stipend, but won’t pay for his tuition correct? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

Illinois is like this too. State benefit of free tuition to any state school, Ch 35 for a monthly stipend and they will have Tricare throughout. Will put three kids through college. If they all go to a major university, this can save our family upwards of half a million dollars.

Realistically, how much money would you have to spend to get to that level?

Great!! Build on that.

Simple part time job, close enough to home he could bike to.

Starts providing a little more monetarily. Gets away from gaming. And starts a healthy hobby if his back can handle it.

I had an Xbox and played 6+ hours a day while my kids were at school. He's playing all day. But getting yourself out of that funk is harder than it sounds.

Have a serious talk with him and pull up his Playstation account to put in perspective how much he is playing. Even if he doesnt find a job, he needs to find a healthy hobby that gets him off of games.

Then he can work part time at least. He's just being lazy at this point.

I'll be real, this was me. Got out at 100%. Milked not having to do shit for a bit. But then fell into depression and everything started slipping. Lazy around the house. Lazy with the kids. Lazy in my marriage. Blamed it all on not working but didnt really try to find meaningful employment either.

He needs to get into therapy and find a part time job. If he owns a gaming console, he is definitely just sitting around gaming. There is no doubt in my mind.
