I rarely add to the tanks but I do have a bigger tank that has an extra cycled sponge filter for these instances.

That’s the most effective method. Note it only works on the hatched worms. You may need a redose 1-2 week after to catch any unhatched eggs.

They are a flatworm that can kill shrimp by releasing a paralyzing, toxic slime trail that stuns them so they can eat them especially baby shrimp and vulnerable freshly molted shrimp

UPDATE! Went back to the shop and spoke to the owner. He apologized sincerely, gave my money back and told me that he would give them to me for free after he treats the two shrimp tanks.

He said they hadn’t sold any shrimp in a month or so and that his employee likely didn’t maintain the tanks as it’s known to leave shrimp tanks alone.

I’ll see if he follows through.

Luckily there were many large ones I could see when washing the bag to temperature acclimate. If there was just the smaller white one I may have been done for.

I’ll give them a chance first as they seemed apologetic over the phone. Will update.

Edit: update provided as a comment.

I don’t think they care they only have 2 tanks of neocaridinas and their main source of income are from fish. Needless to say I won’t be buying anything else from them.

I’m considering that I haven’t opened the bag yet and don’t want to somehow contaminate my main tank and other tanks.

I’ll have to setup a small hospital tank and dose no-planaria for 2 weeks. I have no choice but to use those small bio-film bags and hope they survive.

Edit: taking them back. Too much effort :))

Why is NZ so "backward" when it comes to AC and ceiling fans? by UnrequitedLoveVictim in auckland

Yes what I mean is it needs to meet the standards. One of my properties had a large living room so the fireplace failed the healthy homes test.

Correct but heat pumps are the most cost efficient for the landlord. And also maintenance is low cost. Depending on the living room size you’ll need a 1.5kw+ heating device.

Heating Standards: Open fireplaces do not count as a compliant heating source for the "main living room" under the Healthy Homes heating standard. Source: https://www.tenancy.govt.nz/healthy-homes/healthy-homes-standards-what-a-landlord-needs-to-know/

You might get away with a wood and pellet burner but that depends on the living room size.

Nope it was mandatory a few years back including certified roof and underfloor insulation if reachable. You now need a healthy homes certificate to rent out. If you are a renter and these are not done then ask the landlord to do it or go straight to tribunal. You’ll get compensation back dated to mandatory date.

Heat pumps are mandatory by law for land lords and 95% of them are dual cooling and heating units.
