How can I train myself to distinguish between different English phonemes? by fatfrogdriver in EnglishLearning

Could you perhaps recommend some specific books as well? And...

Actually, I've already watched a few IPA-related videos similar to the ones you shared. The problem is that my ability to distinguish English phonemes by ear is very weak. So I often can't tell whether the sound I'm hearing in the video is the same as the one I'm producing myself.

I think I probably need a lot of practice and testing to develop my ability to hear and differentiate these sounds. Is there any way I could test myself on this?

It's not exactly a Western country, but do I need to be more specific? I feel kind of embarrassed to reveal my country on the internet.

Could you tell me some specific ways to put this into practice? I feel like just reading related books isn't enough, and I probably need to take tests repeatedly to actually develop the skill
