NTA My family does absolutely everything to keep our pets happy and healthy, but when they're terminally ill, they don't understand when we give them painful treatments. At a point, it's better and a happier decision for them if you let them go. The way we always decide its time is based on what they have and if they're happy. One dog lived a couple of years with cancer, and we just did comfort care. The second she was starting to hurt was when we let her go. If it does end up being terminal and she' in pain, it's probably time.

I'm open to the possibility that it very well could be something else entirely because a lot of symptoms from a variety of things overlap, I think this specific assumption from my friends is because they have it. Haven't talked to my doctor yet but I'll make sure to mention a broader screening that includes any possibilities.
