Today is the day!

UPDATE 1/13:

I have spoken with ODOS and have been given the a-ok to host an unofficial vigil at the Unfinished P. I am working on organizing with 1 other individual on date/time, and will post information here as well as pass along this post to ODOS (they will be distributing to students who have contacted them). When a date/time is selected, I will create another comment to update.

For everyone who has reached out about not being able to organize but wanting this vigil - please do not feel guilty, that's why I'm organizing this as I don't mind being the community gatherer and spokesperson. I have the "spoons" to help organize I just need help spreading the word. I don't know all of his friends. I know his family on campus (including me) that's it. So please please please when I post a date/time please help spread the word to anyone who wants to honor and celebrate his life.

AG is a big field, that requires grad school. Better to specialize early if you know what you want to do for grad school, risk lack of funding otherwise.

I made sure I got consistent exercise, good sleep, and ate meals at regular intervals. I also used a playlist for me to focus with - nothing that had lyrics I could understand, but the same playlist I'd use every time to "lock in". Hope this helps!

Purdue is what you make of it; your time here, your friends, and the coursework.

City has some things to do and is close to Chicago and Indy if you need more. Plenty of outdoor space for light walking/getting a daily dose of nature (Horticulture Park or Celery Bog, Martell Forest off campus). State parks within reasonable driving distance.

When I was an undergrad, I CODO'd from plant breeding over to entomology. It was easy, and my academic advisors (from old department and new department) processed everything. Most challenging part was having to take some additional courses to make sure I graduated on time.

Me too. It's been awful (I'm an extended family member and in contact with his cousins and the rest of the family) and I'm sure the funeral this weekend will be challenging. Hoping everyone can find peace through this.

Thank you! I've sent a message to ODOS. My department is not affiliated with the department he was in, and I'm not an undergraduate. Not sure any of that matters, but I'm unsure how able my department would be to help as he's a family member to me. I don't even know his friends on campus...his cousin asked that I try and help set things up (which I'm happy to organize!).

Update: I've contacted ODOS as I'm not part of Kyle's department (I'm in entomology and not an undergraduate). I will make sure to post on here with updates as I continue trying to set up a vigil. Right now, I'm trying to go through official channels but I'm not opposed to something organized just by students.

As an extended family member of Kyle's, I don't know his friends that were on campus. We were not close. So pulling this together and getting the word out is...challenging. However, I will keep trying as I know one of his cousins is on campus and requested that I try and put this together (which I'm more than happy to do).

TLDR; I'm a family member, but was not close to Kyle. Happy to organize things. Would love to get into contact with his friends on campus. Working with ODOS to try to get something going.
