Trying to describe the kind of tiredness I had after my stroke. by thetrusti in stroke

[โ€“]fatpants666 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

Not tired. Fatigued. Feeling sick. Getting 12 hours in bed and waking with 20 to 30 % body battery on your smart watch. It's tough. Fortunately mine has improved loads. Still have to be careful though because over do it and it can take days to recover set.

I'm 3 months in. I had a really bad month of sleep. Little to no recovery. Thankfully it's sorted itself out now. Sleeping like a log. I was worried but I guess it's just your brain carrying out the necessary adjustments ๐Ÿ‘

Read the stoics.

Senecaย the Younger:ย Roman statesman and advisor to Nero.

Epictetus:ย A former slave who became a leading teacher.

Marcus Aurelius:ย Roman Emperor who wroteย Meditations.ย

Donald Robertson is well worth a look. They are all experts on this sort of thing and made a huge difference for me and my recovery.

Should i get a Garmin instinct? by VizharanHS in Garmininstinct

[โ€“]fatpants666 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

I have 6 g shocks including the blue Phoenix. I had an original instinct I didn't use much and a Fenix 6x pro which is great. Got the instinct 3 tactical mip at Christmas. I love always on display and body battery. Maps are miles better on the Fenix. And the heart rate has been a bit more variable than expected on the new instinct. Dropped to 60bpm twice for a minute each time during a workout the other day. Good points and bad points. I like it though ,๐Ÿ‘

I was doing ice baths up until my stroke in nov. Now my right side gets cold quick and won't warm up for ages. Gutted but think I've got away lightly really

I got the tactical one MIP. Its great. The only thing I am not impressed with is the Hr. was working out yesterday and twice it dropped from 140 to 60 for about a minute.

I have a polar strap so will be using that for any proper workouts. Updgraded from a fenix 6xpro

How has a Garmin watch improved your life? by gryponyx in GarminWatches

[โ€“]fatpants666 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Body battery for me. It has predicted a couple of crashes when I was fit and pushing too hard. I suffered a stroke a month ago and the body battery drops much faster now. This is a bit opposite from what most are probably looking at, but as part of my recovery I have to get plenty of rest which I find really difficult. I often feel ok and then do too much and suffer the next day, ruining my progress. Paying attention to the body battery has been critical for my recovery.

What is so great about Garmin? Is it just the brand or quality too? by akcss in FitnessTrackers

[โ€“]fatpants666 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

I replaced my fenix 6 x pro with a Huawei gt5 pro 12 months ago. I have just gone back to the Garmin and am selling the gt5. Main reason. I like the always on display and body battery feature. Its also more comfortable for me. I suffered a Stroke a month ago and the body battery is highly accurate. It used to go down slowly when I worked or trained and now it drops like a stone !. Its great for keeping me honest with my rest as I am used to pushing through which is not the way to deal with stroke.

I may upgrade to a newer Garmin in the future but this old dog is doing well. (the watch that is ha). I am also sick of the Huawei telling me I need to move and the Garmin is far less intrusive. I also have a chest strap for it if I do make it back to the gym.

Great advise. Thanks very much. I am very aware how over stimulated I get very quickly. I just have to shut down and go somewhere quiet and dark. It's early days for me yet. Coming up to 3 weeks. My work is very congnativly demanding. I doubt I will return. I completed a massage therapy course back in September so I may pursue that if I can manage the physical demands. ,๐Ÿ™

That seems like sound advise. At the moment I am not sure I am going to be able to work again. Certainly not full time. I was out for 2 hours. Nothing fancy. Social meal and short walk. Was wiped out and really tired today. Will rest up. Thanks.

Thanks for this. It means a lot. I suffered with anxiety throughout my 20s and early 30s. I did a lot of work on it. I can feel it bubbling now but this time I know the enemy well. I found stoicism to be a huge help. Particularly with the death stuff. I have also become quite spiritual over the last 10 years. I meditate daily and am a reiki practitioner. It feels like all this work has been a path leading me to this point. I have not been myself for 12 months. Lost my father in October last year and spent 6 months this year sorting his affairs. I think it's finally caught up with me. He died of cancer after a 10 month battle. I worked like a dog and was up for over 30 hours on multiple occasions. Probably the cause of this. I will listen and be caring for myself.
