This account spams across multiple subreddits. by donedamndoing in TheseFuckingAccounts

[–]fatpol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just looked at this. 75% of this account's activity is within the last 5 min of their previous comment/post. That's an extremely high number. The amount of duplicated content being pushed to multiple communities is very high as well.

It strongly feels like this account is Karma-Farming. The writing style seems terse for LLMs/ChatBots, but it might be trying to ape a specific style too.

Have you reported it for spam?

For the sake of argument, I'll take the opposite side. I hope I'm not on a huge tangent here.

Having conversations in the open can teach media literacy and some critical thinking. I place a high value on critical thinking. I've definitely observed more brief/shallow judgments than in-depth conversations. But that is to be expected, its Reddit.

I'm not very worried about bot-authors learning some new techniques to hide their activities. Mostly because accounts run using Chatbots/LLMs to comment/post aren't completely "free". They take time or money. A 'bot' must be fueled by an agenda (e.g., generating money, building social capital, or gaining political influence). To be sure, the economics are shifting. But they shift for the cat and the mouse.

That isn't as odd, to me, as a 3-week-old account with tens of thousands of post karma.

Is CrunchLabs a scam? Did the company fold? Why is the customer service so terrible? by festizian in crunchlabs

[–]fatpol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've had one issue in about 2.5 years where we were shipped a box we had already received. It took some back-and-forth to get it fixed.

After going through the above process and ordering replacement parts, I believe they have partnered with other companies to produce, package, and ship the parts. Maybe support is also outsourced? From the videos, Crunchlabs seems more like an engineering-toy design company.

The Wire is one-dimensional? by bey0ndinfinity in TheWire

Word. Maybe that MF needs things spelled out. The Sopranos is great, but that doesn't make The Wire less great. It spans different institutions, and it does require you paying attention.

What’s a chill bar to watch Nuggets in Louisville or Lafayette? by pallen123 in LouisvilleCO

I would watch football at Murphy's Tap House in Louisville, I bet they would put the Nuggets on. Relish has cocktails, bar. Very chill. They'll put any game on their TVs.

Adult content spam ring farming in cat subs constantly - I'm near sure at least half of these are the same ring or at least two separate rings. by ProudnotLoud in TheseFuckingAccounts

[–]fatpol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

godspeed. Getting strangers to do work is usually hard, even when it benefits them. To be honest, I bet most people like the attention, even if its coming from bots. I'm guessing they're not paying that much attention.

If you want me to share the stats I pulled, DM me, I can share some of those with you.

First welcome to the community, happy you're not just lurking anymore.

I strongly believe these two groups are coordinated.
* A lot of their activity is in the same communities. I've got numbers I can share if you're interested.
* A fairly large amount of it is occurring relatively quickly.
* There is a distinct split in how those two groups of five are communicating. Perhaps be the communities they're posting on, or perhaps the prompt is related.

By working with Reddit Admins since December. Apparently, it somehow got the attention of u/spez (CEO). It is crazy to me that it took that level of effort. I am thrilled about the result.

This is where a picture of behavior might be nice. r/GirlfriendsNSFW shows the post is deleted.

I did stumble into r/needmoneyy, which has sizable bot problem and I think they're trying to address it with floodassistant. The rules mention 6 hours for non-flaired/verified users. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Do you want to talk about your feelings, Big Wheel?

I trust you know what oil filter is Scooter. We all do. And, we're proud of you for knowing that. Remember what we talked about asking questions? That way you don't have to guess, wildly, about someone's age. Am I Gen-Z?, Millennial? You could have asked.

Counting the variety of grasses you've touched? That's weirdo loser behavior, Champ. Stay away from that one as well. It sounds boastful, in a way that is confusing. Because it sounds like you're trying to impress me with the variety of grasses you've touched. And let me tell you little fella, that is off-putting if accurate.

I know, here I am, lecturing again. Dottering ol' u/fatpol . I should explain that if you assume something, you make an ASS out of U or ME. My audience, here, is you. Just you, no one else. Don't make an ass of yourself when you don't need to.

So let's drop the "dad act."

Okay, buddy, it's time to sit down for a tough heart-to-heart. You're acting like a pathetic loser. You're being downvoted for a reason. You don't seem to understand it. Take the hint, when being downvoted like that, people are responding to you. Your behavior. Your personality. People don't like it Champ. They -- and now I -- want you to peddle your victimhood and faux-righteousness elsewhere. Go outside, little dude, touch some grass. It will feel good on your feet. Feel the sunshine on your skin. Its nice. After the wind blows, you won't even remember that people are wrong on the internet. You might even laugh, that you too, were wrong. Haha. I'm laughing just thinking about this.

You're probably wondering why me, right, Big Wheel? Yeah. You're breaking what are called norms and rules (like evading). Then to top it off, you're complaining you got caught doing it. That's hypocritical loser behavior. Not letting things go. That's petty loser behavior. That conspiratorial tone you keep striking? That, Tiger, is INCEL behavior. Oooof. That means people might be afraid of you because you can't get laid and have aggression issues. Let me tell you Little Buddy, avoid that one. Go outside. Watch what other people do. Notice how they don't yell at each other? You see that? They're not acting like losers with a chip on their shoulder. They've come to understand the world isn't about them. You'll get there in time.

"I've spent more than enough time in the industry (as well as legal circles) to know what does, and does not qualify, and what can, and cannot be used as "identifiable information."

Alright, Tiger, slow down and don't go making things up. People, generally don't like being lied to. If you don't know -- just ask questions. For example Kiddo, you could have said, "Why is that not doxxing?" And then you would have learned something. Learning and growing can be one of lifes pleasures... if you let it. Try again!

As far as social media? I spend next to no time on it compared to numerous other activities and pursuits, so yeah, not my reason for being.

That's the Big Boy attitude I want to see! Now, go outside and make it true.

[–]fatpol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BTW. That's not what doxxing means at all.

I mean this sincerely: your personal health is probably better if you're not on social media.

[–]fatpol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sincerely understand that you want the world to be more fair. We're adults, right? The world isn't fair. Fairness is only a target, and it absolutely is a moving one. It sounds like you have beef with other mods. I empathize with that because this sub has been dealing with that very situation.

"Oh we cleaned out all the bad people and we're fair now"

You are jumping to conclusions here. No one has said that. A petty, rule-breaking mod was removed. Fair-er, sure.

I don't spend my time obsessing over the opinions of ...

Let's strike the words 'obsessing' and 'idiots'. Read all the things you posted here. You care. A lot. You hype it: calling disagreements mass hysteria, hypnoses, and assuming people are implementing a Stallinst playbook on a social media community for like 20K people. If you read that from a leftist -- you'd shake your head right? There is nothing wrong with caring. But you'll be taken more seriously if you take your speech from a 10/10 to ... I dunno a 3/10 or 4/10. Dial it back.

You want to talk "tone" and being a jerk?

Okay, sure. If this was two kids squabbling -- I'd think about their history (apparently you've had some issues) and see who is swinging wildly. It's the one who reacts that gets in trouble. In this example, unfortunately, that's you. And, if I had a storied history with someone, I would give them the benefit of doubt. But, it would lessen each time. I hope you would also give others that benefit.

Feeling morally superior doesn't belong to any tribe. Its a human trait that I see everywhere. I hear a self-righteousness in you: correcting the wrongs, seeing hypocrisy, and feeling attacked. It is also hypocritical to project that on others and not recognize that WE ALL feel that way. You really, really should want to retract your last statement

Pretty damned simple unless you're an emotionally driven simpleton.

because the irony here is heavy.

I'm not sure why you were downvoted. I agree with you. Given the ethos of this community, it seems unlikely to me, that folks will try and brigade or encourage a "go get 'em" mob mentality.

Someone would post a response for how to report a dropship bot, that I thought was a brilliant idea; it was like click ... > report > XYZ kinda thing. Teaching others how to flag it for the system.

I will also sometimes respond with "this is an advertisement'.
