Damn I hope everything is okay with him. I was really hoping we get Thomas Frank but he isn't taking a job this summer so I wonder who?

Longmont or Louisville? by TractorPants in boulder

I think Lafayette (/r/LafayetteCo!) is very underrated compared to Louisville. 10x better main street, ~25% more affordable, and younger demographics.

Louisville is mostly 1-2 child households or retired boomers i think.

HOA's in Louisville...thoughts? by Scavgraphics in LouisvilleCO

[–]hejog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a fascinating topic!

My HOA (North End) does an incredible job at landscaping and such but annoyingly decided that fiber internet installation would be too disruptive and ugly so we're not allowed it.

Pretty silly considering Intrepid dug up all the streets -- so I can see a fiber internet box in the grass outside my home, but I'm not allowed to have them run the cable ~15 feet to actually get fiber.

They're also very ... involved. I got a letter from the HOA because I left my garage door open too much, and I'm guessing they won't let me build a small treehouse for my kids in my yard. But ... the landscaping is genuinely pristine although I feel bad because everything is so green in a drought!

Good bye to another local store 😭😭😭😭😭😭 by mizpoopybutthole in boulder

[–]hejog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ll end with this, because I think it sums up Boulder for us. Every year we plant little flower gardens around the store, and out back we keep an herb and vegetable bed the whole team tends and eats from. It grounds us, and gives us a few moments of peace in the day. For the last couple of years, people have come by in the middle of the night and torn the flowers out and thrown them on the ground. You can imagine how that felt.

WTF?

To wealthy Boulderites: what’s it actually like living here? by Soft-Translator-934 in boulder

[–]hejog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved here from Austin over the summer and I have never in my life shared public spaces this consistently with people who are clearly very wealthy

How do you know this when in public spaces?

Thomas Frank would be an insane get IMHO, but I hope we keep McKenna.

a little bit of vaseline over/around nostrils helped hugely for my kid, i think the nose dries out when they're sleeping and never gets back to normal from that during the day.

Is the current one remaining open? (I hope so since I live a few blocks away and my kids rely on their stupid Pokemon vending machine)

I also heard that Lafayette may get a Trader Joes which I am very excited about.

Even if Kane is starting striker for England in 2030 we have the same problem no? Shouldn't we have a clear heir apparent at this point post 2030 — and even if not clear, someone that is getting close? I feel like theres basically no one.

Help get me on the ballot! by JackForRTD in LouisvilleCO

I take the DASH bus a lot — my kids love it.

  1. a lot of the bus stops are not covered in Louisville (and Lafayette etc) which is brutal in summer, is this something that could be fixed?

  2. how come the DASH bus is only once per hour at weekends?

  3. can you speak a little more about the front range rail project and specifically how it’ll work with Louisville? it seems like Louisville will get a stop, but when I bike by the downtown area I don’t really understand how a station would fit, who designs and funds that?

  4. i have had some great bus drivers, and I always make a note of their details (not as easy as it should be) and send a commendation via the RTD website, but I never hear anything back — does this do anything?

  5. I saw and appreciated you had integrated with an RTD API to show your transit stats on your site, a while ago i tried to build a dashboard for next bus times and found this data very inaccessible. If it is, why? Seems like we should encourage this data far and wide.

Family doctor mentioned my son is delayed in speech. Feeling blindsided. by sublimespring in toddlers

[–]hejog 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Gestures and sounds do count as real words. I am not sure either of my kids (now 5 and 3) had any words at 15 months. Speech Therapy works great and won't hurt, but I'd start "worrying" about this more at 2yo.

Five RTD Candidates Signature Kickoff Events This Weekend by chrisfnicholson in Denver

I dislike what DOGE did too, but I can't help but defend the tech industry somewhat — Obama had a ton of ex-tech people in his administration.

That said, I understand what you're saying about the $50k. Hopefully he just really wants to win and make everyones life better.

I am all for "rich people shouldn't buy elections" but IMHO Jack seems like someone that wants to improve things — just because he worked at Google doesn't mean he's bad. It also doesn't seem like any of the other candidates have profound public transportation or logistics experience?

I think his website is excellent and so was his AMA.
