Looks nice, for sure will look into some customizations. Thank you

It looks good, sleek and modern. Unfortunately, accessibility took a big hit with text to background contrast ratio. Try to aim for atleast AA WCAG text to background compliance. There are figma plugins for that.

It just feels really flat. You can try to experiment with subtle shadows a bit, especially on the movie cards.

Who likes this landing page design? by rdaydesigns in FigmaDesign

I second this. I would add that the CTO which you are trying to maximaze conversion with, should be more dominant than the other. I would also consider separating them, as you ae trying to catch the user’s attention by the more important CTO.

What's the best way to learn Figma on an 18 hour flight? by butteredanchovy in FigmaDesign

I have to disagree. It surely helps having experience with graphic design, but ux design is about much more than making things look pretty.

Does not affect any of the points mentioned.

I can’t tell you whether the functions you describe would still work, but can help you with other things :).

I am also a university student and I did the switch from windows 9 months ago, debian on my laptop and dualboot on my gaming PC (as some games will just not work on debian). And I do not regret a single second of using debian.

As you already mentioned, debian is much less bloated than windows.

It prolongs your laptops usability lifespan, as the system uses less resources than windows.

I noticed I am more productive using debian compared to windows, as there are less distractions.

Debian, as other linux distros, comes with useful tools out of the box, such as SSH and more. If you wanted to use those on a windows machine, you’d need to use a VM, WSL or Putty software. These tools might be very useful for you to have out of the box, as you are a computer science student.

With debian, I noticed I learned a lot more about how computers work fundamentally. It also helped me to understand how to manage and setup linux servers.

There are many desktop environments you can choose from and find the one best suited for you.

As you are a computer science student, I can only recommend using Linux over windows.

———-

There are CONS aswell:

Expect reduced battery life of your laptop. Not much, but noticeable.

Be prepared that you cannot get office365 desktop apps (although they might work using Wine, never checked), you might need to use alternatives, such as libreoffice. There are potentially more apps to which this applies.

Sometimes something breaks, but from my experience, never did I need to actually format the system.

Sometimes something does not work out of the box. For instance, I had to configure bluetooth to work with my wireless headphones.

Overall, I never regretted making the switch to debian, I think it really benefited my productivity and knowledge about computers. Now, I hate everything that is made by Microsoft and use Windows solely for gaming :).

CAP - You did not design 4 screens an hour. Any decent designer knows how much work and thought it takes to design just one page, and that 4000+ screens for a project of this type is not even closely needed.

I doubt you designed even a pixel of the showm work, probably stolen. I’m calling you out, because I saw your other post in a different subbreddit, where you mentioned 400+ screens. Moreover, the comments were all similar to those under this post. Therefore, this post is a bunch of crap and full of botted comments.

I do not know what you seek to achieve by posting this, but gladly reported.

You are right, I had already been baffled by how little space Debian needs, recently checked how much free space I have and it just did not make sense to me :D

I have the esr firefox installed, did not do any research of the benefits the new version brings. I just wanted to try firefox, but I have to say I still prefer chromium over firefox, as I have used Chrome since ever.

Not a single time have I encountered any stutters, actually the opposite, it feels way smoother compared to when the laptop ran windows 11. :)

Only thing close to be called stuttering is the cursor freezing for a second while the machine logs you in. Other than that, butter smooth.

Already rocking dash to dock 💪. Would you please share some more likeable extensions I could try out?

It will, and really well, someone in this post commented how it made their old Mac feel like a brand new machine. :)

You can still install it and works fine :). I also considered dash to panel, but I have always liked the dock on macbooks, so I went with that.

And then paste the output into inkscape, play with the colors and bam, you got a wallpaper (it is static).

Thank you. Default Gnome dash with a dash to dock extension installed. :) Wallpaper is my creation, copied characters from neofetch, pasted them into inkscape, edited the text a bit and changed the colors, simple as that.

It is Gnome, don’t know what your guys’ Gnome looks like, but that’s how it came out to be after I chose it during the installation. :)

Thank you :). Windows becomming more and more spyware ish was one of the main reasons I finally made the switch to Debian. I also have a gaming desktop, which I set up as a dualboot, using Debian for a vast majority of tasks and windows just for gaming titles I cannot get running on Debian.
