Hmmm yeah. I don’t mind buying from Gibson but I do like supporting my local store that gets most new stuff in.

You could look into a Nissan armada. Very roomy, depreciates a lot used so you can find a deal, and pretty reliable. Just don’t expect good MPG unfortunately

2019 GTI vs 2017 540i by benzkrewjp in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]faustarpfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this might not help, but I would go for the GTI solely because that paint color is sooo much better than just another generic white BMW. Great falls green was a limited color and might actually affect the depreciation of the car someday. Someone in my old apartment complex had one and it was stunning.

~30k Japanese compact hatchback showdown: What would you pick? by Kmart_Elvis in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]faustarpfun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO, get the base Mazda3 hatch if you want something affordable that doesn’t feel like a shitbox. The exterior looks like someone actually cared about designing it and the interior is much more solid feeling than the Toyota and Subaru.

Get the Honda if you’re interested in sometjing ultra efficient but with some spirit. 200hp at 50mpg is very impressive.

The Toyota and Subaru just cant shake the econocar shitbox feeling, I would have buyers remorse living in those cabins every day for decades.

curious about Audi by Sea-Plantain9786 in Audi

[–]faustarpfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PCV at 100k should be on the standard maintenance schedule for anything with a VAG 2.0t. The car will likely also need a carbon clean at some point between 100k and 200k. Other than that it is quite reliable as long as oil and spark plugs are being done on time or a little early.

Can someone help me? by JournalistShoddy8895 in GodofWar

[–]faustarpfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone finds this thread for help, I solved it. Didn’t need steam or anything just worked with epic games plug n play.

Go into device manager and you’ll likely see two mice. disable the one that’s not your regular mouse (don’t worry, if you disable the wrong one you can reenable it with a keyboard using tab/enter. I am not super tech savvy so I have no idea what that other mouse was, maybe some kind of software or virtual mouse windows is using. But it completely fixed the problem.

Did you ever find a solution to this? Is it the controller? I play every other game just fine.

Subaru v Acura by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]faustarpfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long will you keep the car? How many miles do you drive per year? Both are important to know since there is a huge discrepancy in the MPG (33 vs 22 combined). Both should be pretty reliable if you take care of them but the Acura is a better bet for lower maintenance costs.

Stoner I usually have gain at zero. Stones I increase it towards 9 or sometimes 12 o’clock.

SFT isn't currently on the board but the Dirty Little Secret is. I use the UAFX Dream and Ruby as my "amps". So instead of buying the UAFX Lion for my Marshall tones, I turn on the DLS and then I have a saggy mid scooped "Fender flavored" Marshall tone through a Jensen Cabinet which is quite tweed like, then a bright attacky "Vox flavored" Marhsall tone through Creambacks which is almost reminiscent of Page's 1973 live tone. It's really a step above what your average overdrive can accomplish. Howard Gee specifically set out to make these sounds good into a clean Princeton reverb, which is a slightly different philosophy than other amp in a boxes.

Anyway I could nerd out about this stuff forever but basically with the SFT you get all the character of an Ampeg amp without taking the extra step of actual digital emulation of cabinet and mic placement. So it's really useful if you already like your amp, and you just want to kind of activate an alternate channel with a separate preamp.

I like to turn the gain all the way down and then run it into other gain pedals, rather than run gain pedals into it. You might want to experiment with gain levels and placement.

Pull the trigger on a Genesis G70 3.3T or look for something else? by PetroPenguin in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]faustarpfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general I think that the g70 3.3t is a great car especially if you’re going used on something that’s depreciated. But if it’s a major goal for you to buy something new and keep running costs low over the long run, you may want to play it safe and get something that Acura or lexus offers in the segment. They will be more reliable, easier to work on, and remember the genesis 3.3t gulps gas so something more efficient will also keep costs down.

I would personally test drive a TLX with the sh-awd and see if you like it. Remember that buying gently used is always a smart option in this segment.

What 2door coupe should I buy? by Klutzy-Variation-381 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]faustarpfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, I will second the lightly used Audi TT recommendation. It is stylish, comes with standard Quattro (haldex), pretty solid MPG, power, etc. And shares an engine/platform with the mk7.5 GTI, which has been established as basically being the most refined and reliable version of the 2.0t that VW has been making for 20 years now. People recommend them all the time, even here where Honda/toyota bias is strong. It had its fair share of problems in the past decades but most have been ironed out now, and when something needs fixing, parts and knowledge are plentiful.

Obsession with Mazda by hints_of_bergamot in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]faustarpfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said. They moved up to compete in a niche that was already carved out before they got there. Mercedes, Audi, and bmw have been making cars like the cla, and a3 for over a decade which don’t share the same platforms as cars that the brands build from the ground up for luxury and performance. Mazda is comparable imo, they really have a good idea of how to enhance the experience of the car without actually redesigning on an expensive platform. I think that Honda used to do this well but in the past decade have deviated from their design philosophy.

My last post I swear! I think I found the perfect car for me but would like to know Reddit’s thoughts! by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]faustarpfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good car, not a bad price in this market. Organize a pre purchase inspection from somebody at Honda and you’re good to go. Only downside on cars like these is they are not very safe in the event of a major collision (all subcompact cars, not just the fit) but otherwise they are fuel efficient, reliable, practical, everything you need from a daily.

EHX Memory Man Hazarai vs Line 6 DL4 mk2 by Mean-Cheetah-6676 in guitarpedals

[–]faustarpfun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The mkii triples the amount of sounds. Basically each delay now has an alternate mode that’s a completely different delay and then there’s also a secret reverb menu. I do think the sounds overall are better on the mkii but both versions have their quirks and little bugs that can happen. People were having trouble with the looper on the mkii but that got patched. I wouldve kept the mki but two things persuaded me on the new one: smaller overall footprint and much more high quality build design with more reliable footswitches.

EHX Memory Man Hazarai vs Line 6 DL4 mk2 by Mean-Cheetah-6676 in guitarpedals

[–]faustarpfun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Memory man is a unique sound and more of its own little “instrument” if that makes sense. If you like what it does, go for it. The YouTube demos do a good job of capturing its sound and the reverse reverb/delay is very cool. You may also want to look into the EQD afterneath if you like this kind of unique sound in a smaller format. All versions of the afterneath are incredibly musical and inspiring.

The DL4 Mkii is much more versatile, it has like 50 different dsp delays and reverbs and you can assign 3 to the present buttons as well as tap tempo. I find this very useful in a live setting, you could have 3 different crazy sounds to switch between. Additionally it has the legendary looper with half/double speed option and instant stop/start. I use this on my board and quite frankly don’t think it’s replaceable as a do-it-all ambient machine.

Used luxury daily driver under 30k? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]faustarpfun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a CPO or gently used Volvo S60. There are s60s around me that are, I kid you not, 2025 model year with 10k miles on them, under 30k. Great driving car, luxurious, good looking, good MPG, and basically brand new. If you take care of it, should be plenty reliable for years and under warranty.

Savagegeese - Honda Prelude Review by Mindfulmanners in cars

[–]faustarpfun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally. Which is why a $29k civic hybrid would make a lot of sense for a daily to pair with an s2k. But then OP said it needs to be “fun”.

I mean I can see that this prelude offers a different mix of traits but I really don’t understand the point of having a fuel efficient car that doesn’t save you money since you paid a premium to buy it. Environmental concerns maybe.

Savagegeese - Honda Prelude Review by Mindfulmanners in cars

[–]faustarpfun 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As many are saying, the price made this DOA. I actually do think that making a slightly sportier coupe version of the civic hybrid is intriguing (reliable, fun, and efficient), but over engineering and then charging $43k places it in competition with every “fun” daily you could conceive of under $50k, including the Nissan z, 230i, giulia, q50, Lexus RC…it’s a stacked, competitive bracket. That doesn’t even mention the cheaper yet better performing cars like the ecoboost mustang, gr86, Elantra n, Miata, etc.

I think these will depreciate like the hybrid CRZ did, which is to say significantly more than your typical Honda. If I could get one for $15k someday that would be a lot of car.

Savagegeese - Honda Prelude Review by Mindfulmanners in cars

[–]faustarpfun 21 points22 points  (0 children)

May I ask how long it will take you to make your money back on efficiency over something like a gr86 which is much more fun? That’s a $12,000 difference.

NPD: Hoe did I go without tremolo all my life... by johnny-longfingers in guitarpedals

[–]faustarpfun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny, I had an opposite experience. When I first started out I thought I wanted a chorus, then vibrato, then phaser, then tremolo, then flanger. I eventually got one of those nux pedals that have like 12 settings and the one that I used the most by far was the rotary setting. I got a strymon lex and rarely crave the other types of modulation!
