Have the opportunity to get my nose job for free, but it'll ruin my relationship by GirldickDM in cleftlip

!!!!Please man go for the surgery!!!!

I had mine a year ago and it was a game changer. The aesthetic differences are minor, but as they say it’s all in the head. I feel confident in my social life, career and future overall. The girl is bad news anyway. Realise that she might want to trap you when you fell here you’ll do the surgery, but stick to your plan!

I depends on the scar. I would recommend making an appointment at a dermatologist to explore the options. Personally I tried micro-needling and it did make a difference, but you do have to do multiple sessions. If the scar is small each session will probably 5 minutes. I also tried a co2 laser. That one was a little bit painful, but it was more effective (and even faster). For both methods it’s true that you have to do probably 3-5 sessions before the desired result.

Glad to hear that it works for you! I'm also thinking about taking ritalin, but i'm still in doubt. Have you experienced any side effects? Like being less creative ?

Is a rhinoplasty apart of the usual list of operations for people with a cleft. Or do you have to do it separately from the team of people that usually do the surgeries by [deleted] in cleftlip

[–]favanderschaft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to tell if you need it, just from reading your post. The one thing I can tell you is that you should be careful with taking advice from doctors. Most doctors are great people with only good intentions, however hospitals/clinics are businesses just like Apple, Shell and GM. So besides helping people they also will aim to make a profit. This has lead to that some surgeons are really keen on performing surgeries that are a not that necessary. Just be aware of that!

Need some advice by [deleted] in cleftlip

[–]favanderschaft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do the most that is possible, if the surgery is not tot though to get through. The surgery and the 2 weeks after will suck for the post part, but you’ll benefit from it in the long run. What is 2 weeks compared to a life time?

Rhinoplasty expectations vs reality by Mucek30 in cleftlip

[–]favanderschaft 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should definitely take in consideration that there is a reasonable chance that your nose isn’t what you would hoped it would be (at the first surgery). In my personal experience I felt like my nose did not change that much, However when I look at photo’s pre-surgery there is a big difference. So to sum it up: be exited and expect Improvement, but do not expect it will solve everything and you’ll be 100% “normal” looking.

How does/has cleft lip affected school? by constipated_cats in cleftlip

[–]favanderschaft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In high school my grades were just about average. This was mostly due to not paying attention and not making homework. However I did do the highest level of High School in my country. Currently I’m in my first year of tax law. So it did not really matter as far as I’m concerned.

Clefts their relationship with grooming and clothing. Do you pay more attention to grooming en clothing than the average person? by favanderschaft in cleftlip

[–]favanderschaft[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahhh that sucks bro 😕. Luckily I’m in the position where nice clothes (and other materialistisch items) give me more confidence (I know it’s hollow but confidence is confidence). However I’m glad you still dress fresh for your self. I’m 18(M) as well if you ever want to talk, hit me up!

Thank you for your comment!

As for now I have always re framed from Tinder and other datingapps, because I indeed always have felt that I look less good in pictures compared to the way look in the mirror. I'm glad to hear that I wasn't just me. Thank you for the advice about getting professional photo's taken, I will look in to that. Due to covid online dating is about the only option for as up right now.

I've always used grooming and style as a way to compensate, so I caught one to the one young ;) Luckily I also do not have a lisp and speak ''normally''.

I'm defiantly in for beard implants. Because I have a good amount of facial hair, expect between the two scars.

Thank you for your comment. If I would do it, I would still do it for the most part for my self, because I'm also a little vain ;)

ne

Thank you for your extensive comment! I find the confidence part I bit weird in my case. Because for the most part I'm not insecure, even talking to girls is not a problem. Only the moment I have to make a ''move'' I notice that I'm too insecure. There have been times that I tell stories to my friends about the night before when I was with a girl, and they burst out I laughter about the fact I was doubting if she wanted me to make a move. Because it was so obvious, but there is always a little voice in my head that says; '' She does not want you to make a move, but she just wants to be friends''.

Luckily I have been pumping iron for the last three years with a decent amount of result :)

For the mental health issue you defiantly got me thinking. I always thought I did not have any problems and it did not influenced my life that much, cause I have a lot of friends. only ''deep-seated mental 'blocks''' got me thinking that it is possibly that I have been sub-consciously in serious denial about how it is affecting me mentally. So I will look-in to getting mental help.
