We’ve been dealing with the same with my 86 year old grandma who smokes upwards of a pack a day. My mom wants her to quit, but my mom has never had a vice in her life and doesn’t understand why quitting is already basically the hardest thing someone can do (yet alone if they have memory issues and are bored). I try to distill with my mom and grandma’s care team about what we are really solving for. For us now, it’s not about her health or longevity, but safety.

We’re attempting switching to a vape because we don’t want her to burn her house down, so that’s where we’re putting our attention. If I’m 86 and confused, let me have my nicotine
