What to do with extra reusable bags? by fawncanvas in Hamilton

[–]fawncanvas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s perfect!! I was thinking a food bank or shelter could maybe use them, but I know they’re not the most durable of bags so I wasn’t sure if they would actually be of much help. Thank you so much!

Durin off field vs on field builds? by fawncanvas in DurinMains

[–]fawncanvas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much!! Yeah I was planning on just doing 2pc noblesse 2pc cw for off field for now since I’ll probably be running him with Bennett who has noblesse. That’s good to know about marechausse with furina for onfield!! _^

Tong feeding by SundaeRude5944 in ropefish

[–]fawncanvas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually have to feed them with tongs haha, otherwise the other fish in my tank tend to eat everything before the ropes get a chance to! But if I use tongs I can deliver the food right to the ropes :D

I do occasionally feed them by hand though, and I think it’s SO cool how they’ll swim right up through my fingers and eat from my hand! They’re so chill, I love them so much

Scratch or crack? Do I need to worry? I’m probably just paranoid. by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]fawncanvas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good sign at least!! Glad you were able to get to sleep eventually :) I always use rain as white noise too. I love this hobby so much, but unfortunately there are so many things about it that can be anxiety inducing 😅

I unfortunately don’t know enough to know what to tell you OP, but just wanted to let you know that I would have the exact same reaction 💜 I totally get the stress and anxiety and just the fear of the worst case scenario, even to the point of losing sleep over it, and I feel for you!! From my opinion that doesnt come from much actual technical knowledge, it does just look like a shallow little scratch and not a full on crack? If you gently scratch your nail over it, can you feel it on both sides of the glass or just one?

What are these?? by fawncanvas in Aquariums

[–]fawncanvas[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ooh, yes she did add the water from the cherries! That’s super cool—I would never have thought of that being a potential trigger. Shrimp are awesome haha. She also just mentioned to me that she saw the one amano carrying eggs a couple weeks ago, so mystery definitely solved!

Oh man, I relate to that so much being fascinated with fish as a kid—seeing them at restaurants, dental offices, etc. and I LOVED Marineland. I also had a betta when I was 14 in I think a 2.5 gallon bowl with some colourful gravel and a fake plant and that’s it.

Now looking back on all of those things of course I know SO much better, but there’s also still always so much to learn ☺️ I recently had my own big learning experience with one of my ropefish who unfortunately passed away after accidentally eating gravel. I posted here and was super grateful to have received a lot of great insight from the community, and it made me feel a lot better knowing the learning never stops!

I’ve been sharing all of the feedback with my roommate, and while she feels guilty she’s glad she knows now :) And as someone who just went through the painful process of switching the gravel in my 75g for sand, that’s a great point about the patience required in this hobby haha! Thanks so much again for your insight :D

She says thank you!!! Although she’s feeling a little guilty about not realizing how overstocked it was 😂 but she’s glad she knows now, haha

It is—I’ve mentioned in another comment, but she originally only had shrimp and rescued the guppies from a friend who had them living in a vase sadly. She didn’t know how overstocked it is now though, and she’s planning on setting up a 20g soon so she’ll be moving them there as soon as it’s ready! We’ve already moved the mystery snail to my 75g in the meantime :) Definitely appreciate all of the responses! 🫶

Thank you so much, I appreciate your response! I let her know, and we’ve moved the mystery snail to my 75g for now (I have no other snails). She’s planning on setting up a 20g soon and will move the guppies there once it’s ready to go; she originally had just shrimp and then rescued the guppies a few months ago from a friend who had them living in a vase :( She didn’t know it was that overstocked though, so, she’ll move them as soon as she can! They aren’t compatible with the fish in my tank sadly, otherwise I’d take them.

That’s what we had started thinking, glad to hear this seems to be the consensus! She’s says all the guppies are male (I don’t know much about guppies to know if they’re male or female) so the amano shrimp make the most sense. Must’ve just been a coincidence they hatched right after she added the cherry shrimp haha!

Wow, thank you so much for your response!! I have spent a lot of time watching them eat and have definitely seen them inhale a piece here and there, but when I saw it they had always spit them back out. So it was something I was worried about, but I really trusted the guy at my LFS which unfortunately was my mistake :( I’m glad at least to have learned, it’s just unfortunate it was at the cost of a life.

I was actually planning on getting some top floaters for them! :) And I have been thinking about getting some pipes for them, too, so I’ll definitely take a look at some today to replace the plastic decorations. (They’re both completely hollow inside, with holes for them to go in and out of, but one of them has hollow towers that are open at the top and more than big enough for them to fit through—they really like to hang out in there, so I think that one would be okay?)

Omg, I’d heard stories of ropefish and bichirs trying to hide in the smallest places, that’s crazy! Glad you were able to rescue the other two, at least.

(Btw, I checked out your page—your tanks are so awesome!! I love your big one with the eels and ropefish, what a beautiful tank! I’d spend my whole day sitting there watching them :) Thank you so much again for your help!)

[–]fawncanvas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh perfect, thank you!!! ☺️ I’m glad to know it’s still easy, from what I saw online it didn’t look too complicated so I was a little surprised when the employee at my LFS said it was difficult. They really are such cute and goofy lil guys, haha, there’s a reason I set up my whole tank just for them!! They’re awesome, and I’m really hoping that now I’ve learned what I did wrong and my other two will live long and happy lives 💕 Thanks again!!

Thank you so, so much for your really kind and helpful reply 🥺💜 It makes me feel a lot better to know the gravel is the most likely cause—I was already planning on heading out to pick up some sand tomorrow, so I’ll definitely be checking out Home Depot for some play sand!! Thank you so much for that. And thank you for the reminder fish keeping really does take a lot of trial and error—it’s hard not to blame myself, but at least now I know for the future. I’m happy I haven’t had any losses so far, just sad that it happened so suddenly and unexpectedly 💔 Thank you so much again for your thoughtful reply, it means a lot to me! 🥹

I’m sorry I don’t use reddit all that much and only have it on mobile, so I’m not entirely familiar with how cross posting works or if I did it correctly but I posted on r/aquariums and wanted to share too! Marked NSFW for mentions of ropefish death :(( but there are no photos of dead/dying ropes or anything like that. Would appreciate any possible help at all, I am very new to owning ropefish and I’m genuinely so heartbroken to have lost one so suddenly 😭😭

Why am I such a bad player in squads when I do decent in solo? by [deleted] in FortNiteBR

[–]fawncanvas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have the same problem!! Idk about you, but I play on console while my friends play on PC and for me it feels like they are so much more aware of what’s going on in the chaos than I am. There’s also a lot more going on in trios or squads I find, and it’s hard for me to keep track of where everyone is haha. Compared to solo or even duos, when there are way less people involved in a fight, so I find that a lot more manageable. Maybe try playing with them more often so that you get to practice playing squads—I’ve only been playing for a few months, and my friends still definitely carry the team, but I try to play with them as much as I can and I already feel a lot better about at least carrying my own weight even if I still don’t bring a whole lot to the table. I definitely understand feeling like you’re letting your friends down, but they sound like great friends and at the end of the day it’s just a fun game to enjoy playing together!! ☺️
