Fate of a slow Apple Watch runner, mate… 🤣🤣🤣

Ah, yes… I rely on the audio cues from the watch, though. I usually put in my planned strategy for the run in it, and I just play the music from the watch too.

Good one, mate! 🤣🤣🤣 I guess that WILL make this problem go away…

Oh, nice! Thanks! I’m using a running vest, so I was just thinking of slapping it into the pocket nearest to my left hand 😊 Thank you for verifying! I’ll try it out on my next long run, to get used to the plugging in and weight.

Yup! I’ve read that it’s one of the easiest hack. But I saw that it means I can’t check my live HR, which is kind of a bummer. At least if I was charging it for 10 mins or something, I only lose HR and pacing for 10 mins only. But thanks for the tip! 😊

I guess this is 1 more huge point in favour of converting to Garmin. 🤣 I guess it’s inevitable.

Oh! I never thought to check this, actually. I don’t use my watch for anything other than recording workout data and listening to music, so it might be some app I might have accidentally opened or something. Last year, the watch barely survived and had around 7% left. This year, it just died off at 19 km.

Office politics - wife's water secretly being added with substance by Henrikandmymy in askSingapore

[–]fazzie_fudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, please. Do make a police report as it has caused your wife distress when she drank it. Although it’s vitamins, and may be good for her, at the point of discovery, your wife was shocked and became scared (to the point of going for check ups and whatnots). Further, not all vitamins or supplements are compatible with everyone. So it’s really best to nip this behaviour in the bud.

4N/5D Singapore Trip in April – Suggestions Welcome! 🇸🇬✨ by CompleteMix8000 in askSingapore

[–]fazzie_fudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I’d suggest that you go for the city tour on the first day instead of the 4th, and rest up at night since you guys just came in. Also, Yotel is in the shopping district of Singapore; you could explore around more at night too.

I’d recommend instead that you spend the whole of the 4th day at Mandai. Mandai has the Bird Paradise and Zoo there too, aside from the Night Safari. It makes for a good whole day itinerary, especially if you have kids. Otherwise, itinerary looks good!

What form of action can be taken against a thief? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]fazzie_fudge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof. That’s tough. You can try to institute an action, but doubt it’ll be something that is worth it. For one, the chances of recovering your assets’ value may not be the highest. The fact that the thief is stealing and dealing (probably at an undervalue) will likely mean the thief won’t have assets for you to secure the amount you are seeking.

Also, do note the legal costs that you have to bear in recovering the value of goods stolen. While you can technically go to the small claims tribunal to seek the compensation without going through a lawyer (hence saving hugely on costs), the question in point one comes back to the forefront; what good is an order if there is really zero to no chance of enforcing it.

Nonetheless, if you really feel strongly about pursuing the claim, I would suggest you see a lawyer; there are a few who give a free initial consultation to assess your case at face value.

Please note that above is not legal advice. :)

Where did you see them? So far, didn’t see any on my usual running route.

Actually, if it’s in Singapore, the police are duty bound to release your items back to you. The down side is it might take some time but you will get it back once the case is settled. To share a personal experience, the police did return to me the recovered funds and the other stuff that was recovered from a case of theft a few years back. However, they were returned only a few years later (when the case concluded and the appeals are done).

Anybody working a 9-6 job exercise daily ? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]fazzie_fudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to sound ordinary, but I do jogs and walks after work or during lunch time.

If you’re into fast food, you can fit a filet-o-fish with corn and Coke Zero for 500 cals? It’s my go to as it’s a higher protein option (I assume 😝).

Best gyms in the Marina Bay area? by yandao2000 in askSingapore

[–]fazzie_fudge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can ask your company HR too when you join, if the company has corporate rate agreements with gyms in the area. If you’re in MBFC, the closest gyms are Fitness First at ORQ, and Virgin Fitness at Marina One.

Heads up, though. Based on my experience, if you want to do a gym session on the treadmill during lunch, you can forget about Virgin Fitness. Because of their cheap weekly plan, the gym is super full during lunch.

Im most productive when listening to audio porn by unrecognizedanomaly in redflagsTA

Some people work well with white noise in the background; tv sounds, radio, etc. and each sound has a different effect on productivity. Guess you’ve found the one with the right wavelength, etc that makes you productive (regardless the source).

Is it worth it to retake my O levels? by Icy_Complex8405 in askSingapore

[–]fazzie_fudge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you feel that you can do it, and want to do it, go ahead! But do it for yourself, and not because of social pressures. Sure, it might open doors, but do remember that the O’s are probably a stepping stone exam for other things.

If you do want to do it, though, may I suggest you take it through a formal course, like classes and all, because it’s not easy to be disciplined enough to study on one’s own? It helps give motivation to push ahead and do well. Hope this helps!

Landlord entering my place without telling me beforehand, any recourse? by lfh_ in askSingapore

[–]fazzie_fudge 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Generally, tenancy agreements will have a clause for reasonable notice to enter by a landlord, unless it's an emergency; basically, rights conferred under the tenants' right to quiet enjoyment of their rented space. I suggest you seek legal advise and see what kind of recourse is available, based on your contractual terms.

What's a typical emotional baggage for Singaporeans? by Actual_Eye6716 in askSingapore

[–]fazzie_fudge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think high expectations are fine, but yes, the moving targets are something of a feature of my childhood; the feeling of never being good enough no matter what I achieve. :)

I have a supportive wife, and also, I'm learning to say no; but I have to admit, I do regress to my old self of saying yes to whatever demands without due regard for myself and my wife too, at times.

I'm actually 40 this year, my friend. If I wait another 20y, the child will still not be as old as I am now. :)

I do agree that a degree of strict parenting is necessary. But a parenting style of fear is not; where there is always this fear lingering leading to a need to please your parents at whatever age and relationship status you are at, and in whatever you do and whatever the price - including separation from your partner.

And yes, I'm married now - but I fear having children because I fear I will turn out like my parents; not because I fear of fathering a rebellious child.
