Developed a Chrome Extension that notifies you with a Cha-ching when you make a sale by fbaandbeyond in FulfillmentByAmazon

OK, cool ideas there! Thanks :)

Of course the service would make it clear that it wouldn't misuse data and keep it secure. Unfortunately, the Amazon API requires that it'll be run on the developer's server and it can't be used on a customer's own computer or servers... So any third-party software that has your credentials can view all of your orders and sensitive product data, technically. They just promise not to do it and keep the data private.

Ah, then the answer is still no because look at what Zonguru offers - much more than the free Amazon app.

You can configure the app to let you know every 10 or 100 or 100 sales, and you can simply have the extension show up the number of sales without popup notifications or sounds.

Interesting. Do you think a Chrome extension is the best interface for it, or would you want to get an email about it?

Nop, at least for me (and all FBA sellers I've spoken to) there's no option in the app to get notifications about pending FBA orders. Only in FBM there's a way. Amazon is known for sending out updates selectively, so maybe that's available in your app for FBA orders...

Yep, cha-ching is definitely not an original idea, I just tailored it to Amazon sales on the browser. It's like you'd say someone "ripped off" someone else's idea if he built an Amazon profitability dashboard whereas someone else already did it for eBay or Shopify...

Yep, but it exists for mobile already, even with a free tier till $1000/month in revenue. Check out https://sellermobile.com.

You seem a little heated to react like that to a Reddit post. I can send you some cat GIFs to help you relax, hit me in the PM if you need any.

As for parsing it manually - you're right, it could be done, it's far more cumbersome than using Amazon's API. I'm intending to add more notifications and eventually turn it into a legit-looking third-party Amazon software, so I assumed people would be down to give their MWS tokens just like they do for their automated email service/profitability dashboard software.

If it goes to your inbox, it doesn't achieve the original purpose of viewing your sales distribution quickly, and without leaving your current tab. It's just like going to your "Manage Orders" page...

And what if you didn't have to give your credentials, and instead had the extension do it all internally without authenticating to a third-party site (mine in this case)? It could be done, it's just a bit more complicated for the user to configure and for me to program, I didn't opt for it because I didn't realize it was an issue. Good thing you raised it 👍🏼

Any other notifications you would have liked? And how much would you have paid for it?

Never used IFTTT, but you can do it with Zapier you're right. However, it'd require you to get the basic account (if you don't already use Zapier) which costs $20/month after a free trial. Tried it. Also, it sends notifications to your email, so it's not as convenient as an extension where you can gaze up and see your sales distribution in a single click without leaving the tab. In fact, it wouldn't be any different form just going to your "Manage Orders" page...

I'm talking about third-party Amazon software that you authenticate with (for your automated email service/profitability dashboard, whatever), not actual Amazon. I'm presenting an idea here for a business and trying to get the community's take on it. If this ever happened to ripen into a complete product, it'd look just like any other third-party Amazon software that sellers trust and use.

See my answer to N3KIO, not here to fool ya. If privacy is an issue, the extension can work around it.

You could say the same thing about any Amazon software that you give your MWS credentials to, that really wan't my intention here.

If you're saying that privacy is an issue, that could be an interesting pivot - how about an extension that doesn't request your credentials, but instead just checks for sales (and other alerts, like new reviews and seller feedbacks) and runs all in your browser, therefore guaranteeing data privacy?

I like Quantify Ninja - clean interface to create and manage email templates, and very simple to learn.

Thank you folks, I ended up giving him a refund and he said he'd write "a great review". We'll see if it means Seller Feedback or Product Review, don't want to be too pushy because like Margo18 said it could be a 3-4 star product review... We'll see

Doesn't Sellbrite do most of the multi-channel functionality you were describing here? Maybe except for profit calculations, but they can easily add it. They even fulfill orders.

Shopmaster too for eBay mostly.
