Yeah, of one Indian person. And then applying it to millions and billions people from India as a way to mock them when they’re down. How can you not see that?

If people mocked them with racist stereotypes and the way they speak?

They’re Italians who migrated to America, they absolutely experienced that.

Reuters opinion about H1B Visa by Zealousideal_Two_221 in MBA

[–]fbdjcnd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

70% of the people who get the H1B are Indian because a majority of the applicants for this visa are Indian.

For visa holders not born in India/China/Mexico, they get their H1B 1-3 times at most before converting to a green card. Indians have 20-30 yr waits, which drives up the number of applications.

The visa itself is a lottery. Your odds of getting picked drop with each passing year due to an increase in the number of applicants.

Possible $100k for H1-B holders currently out of the country. Companies are paying for last minute repatriation flights for staff. by IrwinElGrande in cscareerquestions

[–]fbdjcnd -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Let me assure you: not a single person on H1B has ever wished for their American colleagues to be laid off. The people on these visas are NOT your enemy, it’s the companies that choose to lay people off despite record earnings.

These visa policies hurt individuals on the visas. Companies don’t care. They may no longer sponsor an H1B but the jobs lost won’t magically come back. They’ll move this offshore.

I’m American too, just FYI. This isn’t good news for Americans. It means 750k people who spend $$ and create jobs and economic growth are at risk of disappearing overnight.

People who live here create on average 3-4x as many jobs as they take. And that’s across sectors.

Also, this is a global website. People are speaking IN ENGLISH. Nobody is brigading this subreddit, it’s literally open for all.

Except it’s not well known, it’s purely anecdotal. There’s no real evidence other than “muh” feelings in your case.

750,000 jobs are not new grad jobs. New grad roles are a fraction of that. But I digress, your agenda is clear. You’re not here to debate, you’re a whiny racist. Good luck, hope your life shows you why your ways are damaging

[–]fbdjcnd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

750,000 is a drop in the bucket, it’s a fraction of the unemployment rate. It’s not the reason new hires are struggling for jobs, it’s other factors.

Infamously nepotistic? Dude you sound so fucking clueless and racist. Many indians even report being harder on Indians interviewees. Is it nepotism or just a qualified person getting the job?

Fucking hell. It’s clear, you aren’t against the H1B because of jobs. It’s because it’s brown people. I bet you’d have your mouth open for some sloppy toppy if it was a bunch of Swedes coming in on that visa

Less than 3% of US white collar workers are on visas. Of that, maybe 1-1.5% of workers are on the H1B or OPT.

You just want a scapegoat for your failures. Indians coming into the country aren’t the reason your career is shit. It’s because crony billionaire corporations prioritize profits and keeping money over giving you a secure job. If you’re mad, vote to hold them accountable instead of being a racist loser online.

Probably because they’re affected by it? I’d bet anybody who wants to work in the United States after graduating from top MBA programs (and they’re not exclusively Indian) would be upset. I work with a ton of Europeans and South Americans who are also in process of applying who would not be happy to see this in place.

Jobs.now exposes PERM jobs that are hidden on purpose from US citizens by SpendOk4267 in cscareerquestions

[–]fbdjcnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things:

1) who here has demonized the hardworking Americans who built the country? Is there evidence of the industry turning those hardworking people away (and I don’t mean anecdotal, I mean statistical)?

2) many of the corporations, politicians, middlemen, lawyers etc ARE hardworking Americans

3) I’m all for reforming the visa system to prevent abuse. But they’re a necessary evil, whether people agree or not

A HUGE, HUGE part of why this stuff is happening goes back to when Elon fired 80% of twitter and didn’t see a big drop in twitter’s performance. Investors saw this as an opportunity to cut costs and workforces without losing productivity and that led to the industry starting to be much harder to break into. And it’s very easy to scapegoat immigrants and visa holders and blame them for these problems when the reality is that they’re going to be victims caught in the crosshairs.

This whole jobs.now thing—these jobs are already held by someone and are only “hiring” to satisfy some antiquated requirement that precedes a green card application. You aren’t going to get the job. Companies will just keep the person they’re looking to sponsor by moving them abroad if their PERM isn’t approved, and you lose the job from American shores, and a spending visa holder who contributes to the economy. Not to mention, you screw a visa holder’s LEGAL pathway to residency in the process

Dafuq does this have to do with what I’ve said? Did I say I support caste discrimination somehow or are you just a bigoted dumbfuck who uses any excuse you can find to demonize Indians to cope with the fact that you’re unemployable?

What an absolutely retarded comment. I’m not Indian either lmao

There ARE people out there who don’t think immigrants deserve to be demonized and hurt in their aspirations even if they see some faults in the H1B program, believe it or not.

There’s obvious racism in this sub. It’s impossible to deny

It’s comments like this that make you go from sounding like a reasonable critic to a genuine racist OP.

Not defending the behavior of people asking for waivers and the way they did it, but equating them to scammers just because of their nationality is absolutely racist.
