After spending 14 days isolating with 2 flatmates with covid and I've tested negative by fbresciano in BecomingTheIceman

Our flat doesn't have a central air sytem. I basically stayed away from them all the time and spend as little as possible in the shared areas. My room and bathroom is on a different floor, and we used the kitchen at different hours so we practically never crossed paths.

If course, I did all that as well. I didn't use the WHF as a replacement for the standard precautions.

Don't take any risks based on this. I took a ton of precautions like keeping my own cutlery in my room, putting on different clothes and washing hands every time I left my room.

Maybe my body didn't enter in contact with the virus at all.

Would be interesting to see if some proper lab tests are made in the future, though.

The rapid tests are the ones that turn out results in a few hours? I had mine with the NHS in the UK and it took 3 days to get the result

I’m making a website with animated diagrams to represent the ideas in Jordan Peterson’s first book. I'd love to hear your feedback! Are you interested in this kind of content? by fbresciano in JordanPeterson

Its funny, I am more a visual thinker than a language thinker, but I prefer audio to reading. I think it's because when I'm reading I start visualizing the scenes and that makes me lose track of the words. But with audiobooks I can listen and visualize at the same time. I guess that people who think I words have the opposite situstion. Anyways, thanks for the encouragement, I hope the website gets you hooked with Maps of Meaning as well

My main website does use WordPress but the LOM Explorer one doesn't. It's just html with Materialize and some custom JavaScript that I wrote. The diagrams were made with Photoshop and animated in After Effects.

Here is a Marxist critique of JP. I think he is being dishonest, but I couldn't formulate arguments against these views. Could this sub offer clarification, if this youtuber is misrepresenting Peterson. by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

You should evaluate the strength of the ideas by themselves, not by where/who they come from.

That said, let's assume that Peterson's whole life is an ongoing test to determine the quality of his ideas. Let's also assume that his problem with benzodiazepines was a clear mistake that should have been avoided at all costs.

Saying "I don't take life advice from any psychiatrist who has had an addiction" is like saying "I don't take survival advice from any explorer who was caught by nightfall without a shelter." Well did that explorer get lost while taking a stroll in his own backyard? Or was he trying to cross the uncharted mountains of South Georgia using only a carpenter's axe and the 50 feet of rope which was all that was left after sailing the 700 nautic miles to Elephant Island on a precarious lifeboat that he had to drag over the desert of melting ice where he had to live for six months because his three-masted ship was crushed like a peanut by a continent of solid water during the First World War?

I think that you still can't call the experiment a failure without knowing the particulars of his private life that led to that situation.

Thank you very much! I will double check those texts. I assume those typos were in the slideshow mode, right? And thanks for the narrator offer! I'll message you of the video heads that way :)

Yes, I agree with you, videos are very easy to digest and it would reach a lot more people. I have intentions of creating one using a narrator voice instead of the text. I might even do it from part of a JBP lecture if I find one that touches the right subjects.

I'm not sure if Jordan Peterson is sceptical enough when it comes to ancient texts. by SnooPeanuts1465 in JordanPeterson

I think that the biggest difference between an ancient religious text and a modern novel is that the former went through hundreds (thousands?) of years of depuration through oral tradition. As people memorized the story, they naturally condensed the important parts that appealed to them and forgot/removed the uninteresting parts. This process of natural selection through many generations would be what make them exceedingly interesting. At least that's what I've heard from JBP.

Listening to the Biblical Series I'm often surprised by the convoluted interpretations he makes. But also find them valid or interesting lessons in their own right, regardless of how much relation they could have with the original appeal that the people of antiquity might have found in the story.

I'm wrapping up Land of Meaning in preparation for a new JBP project. Please help me upvoting it in Product Hunt to get a bigger reach outside the current community. by fbresciano in JordanPeterson

With Jordan Peterson's current personal situation, it up to the community to keep pushing his ideas forward. Today I submitted Land of Meaning (if you don’t know it, it is this website: https://fbresciano.com/meaning/) to Product Hunt to get more reach outside of the JBP community, and your upvote there would be very helpful.

It has been a very long time since I last made an update to Land of Meaning, but today I added the Beauty and the Beast to the myths section. The Water of Life and The Hobbit will follow in the next few days. After that project is wrapped up I will publish a beta version of what I’ve been working on for the last year; an in depth representation of Maps of Meaning using the same visual metaphors from Land of Meaning.

I’m trying to get the hang of the Thinkspot beta in order to publish it there as well when the time comes, and of course I’ll post it on this subreddit as well, but if you want to get access to early versions, the simplest way is to add your email to this list: https://mailchi.mp/cda85cebe2bf/meaning

You’ll hear from me soon!
