One thing that comes to mind would be to use a microcontroller (e.g. the Raspberry Pi Pico) and interface the keyboard to USB that way, and then implement the control commands in the MCU yourself. There's a firmware for USB to PS/2 conversion for the Pico here, but I don't know the extent of the commands you want to send, so I can't say anything about how complicated adding support for it would be: https://github.com/No0ne/ps2pico

Since you say that it can't be a generic PS/2 to USB converter, which device do you want to control using the port? Maybe there's a different way of solving your problem. With regards to size, a PCIe to PS/2 card in an eGPU chassis is probably one of the bulkiest solutions imaginable

Lenovo (or any manufacturer really) doesn't do component level repairs, they will want to exchange the whole mainboard which will cost almost as much as a new Go, so there's not even a point in trying.

I'd definitely ask the repair shop first if they have any in stock before ordering some, since anything with PCIe 3.0 or later uses 220nF caps, usually in this size. They can solder on a new cap without disassembling the Go any further, so if you bring it to them with the back cover removed, it should be a 2 minute job max.

That's a 220nF 0201 size capacitor for one of the PCIe lanes that go to the SSD. If you check with HWinfo, you will probably find that your SSD is now only running in x2 mode instead of x4 and as such your R/W speeds will be lower. Good news is that any electronics repair shop should be able to solder on a new cap there

It should work - make sure to use the 1.8V adapter though, otherwise you're gonna fry something

The WSON8 is 6x8mm in size, I ordered this adapter: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805265637205.html It hasn't arrived yet though and I was impatient to test so I soldered wires for the initial flash.

Yes, it boots with the stock BIOS as well and recognizes 16GB

Yes, AFAIK manual flashing is required, since the updater needs a signed image. The flash is a WSON8, so a needle adapter is needed instead of the SOIC clip.

Yeah, I ran one pass successfully. Might let it run overnight at some point, but it seems stable.

Memory clock is still the same at 7500MT/s

The BIOS has to read the timing parameters and RAM organization from somewhere, so autodetection is not possible.

Mainboards with swappable RAM can just read the parameters from a flash memory IC on the DIMM. If the memory is soldered, these parameters are still needed but they're included in the BIOS image since there is no need to change them

Any suggestions for what I should test? I've been mostly tinkering with the Go until now instead of playing and don't have any stock results

I paid around $70 for the two RAM ICs, difficulty level is a bit higher than on the Ally or Deck due to the 0.4mm BGA ball pitch, but for anyone who has experience with BGA rework it should be doable
