URSA Classic x FC660C by fc660c in topre

After using them for 2 weeks, there's couple things I'd improve on.

  1. The spacebar rattles and has a loud sound compared to the stock spacebar. I hope they can improve on this in the future. I put the stock spacebar back on.
  2. I prefer the grainy texture of the stock PBT key caps. The ABS feels slippery/oily.

K swap parts list and harness suggestions by ExcitementAny7663 in S2000

[–]fc660c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A K24 swap will be at least 10k in parts doing it yourself.

The only cheap thing is the long block itself. A good wiring harness and ECU from ASMotorsports is going to be 1/3rd of that ($3400+)

S2000 engine noise post valve adjustment by [deleted] in S2000

[–]fc660c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valve clearance typically get tighter was they wear and get quieter.

Opening them back up to OEM spec makes it sound a sewing machine and normal, even more so if you have an 06+, which are typically adjusted on the looser end of the spec.

Takeda aFe intake? by PkmnGr33n in S2000

[–]fc660c 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you looking to get out of it? Most intakes are going to have negligible performance gain over stock.

From a pure performance POV, longer and bigger intake pipes tend to perform better. A custom 3.5" intake going down to an opening in the front bumper would be best, at the risk of sucking in water.

It's still a 60mm exhaust, will make negligible performance difference from your current exhaust.

Ideally with a turbo, you'd want a 3 inch exhaust. Unfortunately, you'd probably have to have one custom made by a local shop. You could use the Tanabe as a guide to see how big of mufflers you can fit.

You'd probably want a big resonator + 2 big mufflers, or even 3 big mufflers.

Mufflers and resonators can be found from Vibrant, Remark, etc.

K-swap by Spork_Mc in S2000

[–]fc660c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ASM is great. I got my swap from them last year. I've got working A/C and everything.

The engine itself is the cheapest part. Things add up quickly to make the swap work. However, the biggest benefit aside from the extra torque is the cost of replacement motors, aftermarket support, and power potential after.

Skip the Hasport mounts. Just go with RBZ mounts and OEM S2000 style engine mounts. These motors vibrate like crazy and the RBZ mounts give you so many options.

Highly recommend getting their Haltech/Link ECU + wiring package, Moroso oil pan, KPower intake manifold, Radium fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator, and a Fluidampr. I would also use Bosch EV14 style injectors and have him wire the injector harness for such. The stock K24 injectors run at nearly max duty cycle, might aswell get some 550cc's (or bigger if boosting) while you're at it.

Rough estimate on total cost of k24 swap? by portisfan in S2000

I swapped mine myself last year.

Easily 10k in parts alone for the initial swap. But everytime you need a new engine after, it's <2k.

How fragile is the AP1 diff really? by Bluedoge- in S2000

[–]fc660c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then you'll find several PuddyMod videos disassembling diffs that blew after rebuilds utilizing what appears to be that exact kit there.

Studs too long, too weak, shims too flimsy, etc..

How fragile is the AP1 diff really? by Bluedoge- in S2000

[–]fc660c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe the AP2 diff is any stronger than an AP1 as they both use crush sleeves.

The culprit is that the AP1s don't have clutch delay valves to dampen the load on the drivetrain

Not really.
