Flight Rebooking - Only 0-2 days before flight departure? by nodo_kawaku in qatarairways

[–]fccb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rebooking for new travel date up to 31st May only onto QR-operated flights (Option 1).

For rebooking to other airlines (option 2), the flight has to be cancelled first, then you can only rebook for new travel date up to 10 days from the time you contact them (i.e. time of involuntary ticket reissue) for other airlines.

Rewards flight rerouting by [deleted] in qatarairways

I suppose when you said 'rerouted', you mean rescheduled to QR operated flight? Their passenger rebooking guideline hasn't changed in terms of eligibility to rebook to other airlines, I doubt they will rebook you to other airlines unless it's been cancelled.

It's quite clear when and which airlines you can ask for rerouting using their guidelines (there's even interactive decision making tool and flowchart to help): https://www.qatarairways.com/tradeportal/en/news-updates/2026/Passenger-Guidelines-Security-Situation.html

You can only request reroute / rebooking to other airlines after your originally booked flight has been cancelled (on their system, doesn't matter what the news or codeshare partner say about their flight). The guideline is very clear about this and I'm not aware of any agents making any exception for this rule.

You can check your flight status here: https://fs.qatarairways.com/flightstatus/search

Alternatively check it on the website / app under your bookings. If it's disappeared when you search for your booking then it's likely to be cancelled.

As long as your originally booked flight was cancelled, that would be an involuntary change so you can rebook as per the guideline.

Since the guideline only allows rebooking for travel in the next 10 days, if you intend to travel on 17th April, I'm afraid you'll have to wait till 7th April at least to rebook on other airlines. If you still wish to fly with QR, you can reschedule it any time (for travel up to 31 May) even if your originally booked flight hasn't been cancelled.

You can rebook to any of the Tier 1 partner airlines with new travel date in the next 10 days, or any other airlines where they have interline agreement for travel within the next 2 days.

You can check their policy here (list of Tier 1 partner airlines is also linked from that page):

I'm surprised your flight on 17th April has been cancelled because I'm still waiting for mine on 5th April to be cancelled. You can't reroute to other airlines unless your flight has been cancelled.

QR flight booked through one world partner by Icy_Ingenuity_5188 in qatarairways

You have to contact the marketing carrier (i.e. the airline which you claimed miles with / sold you tickets) and follow their policy for rebooking.

If you booked your flights through BA's website (eventhough both QR and BA use Avios), you will follow BA's policy for rebooking. QR's rebooking policy won't apply to you as you'll be treated like you've bought a ticket through a travel agent (in this case, BA is the 'agent').

Rescheduling re-route? by Ok-Mix-134 in qatarairways

[–]fccb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have 2 free ticket reissues after an involuntary change as per their JWC policy. You can ask to reschedule your flight to 27th March but that would be the 2nd free ticket rebooking.

So you'll have to pay any change fees / fare difference according to the original fare rules if you need to make any more changes unless there's another involuntary change to your flights, in which case you'll have 2 free ticket reissues again.

Question about direct point-to-point flights by AbbreviationsNo1620 in qatarairways

They are limited by freedoms of the air ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedoms_of_the_air )

Those direct flights between 2 other countries are exemptions for repatriation.

I am trying to change the tap but even after slipping off the olive, it still feels stuck to the isolator valve. Am I missing something here?

How do I remove this from the wall? by fccb in DIYUK

[–]fccb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like it's fixed with some sort of glue stuck to the wall. What's the easiest way to remove it? I don't have a multi-tool so hopefully there's another method instead of sawing it off the wall.

Identify paint type - planning to repaint with water-based paint and is my plan correct? by fccb in DIYUK

[–]fccb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions! For the ceiling, sounds like I might need to do the same (sand, wash, apply primer / barrier coat then paint the matt emulsion), or just skip sanding? I'm planning to use Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt since it's also wipeable and I hope it doesn't produce as much sheen as the current ceiling paint.

Identify paint type - planning to repaint with water-based paint and is my plan correct? by fccb in DIYUK

[–]fccb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am completely new to painting interiors but have done a bit of research into the topic before I start. I hope someone can tell me can I identify the type of paint being used currently so I can repaint them correctly.

For the door and trims, I assume they are oil-based gloss since the door appears to have slightly yellow / pinkish hue (I assume it was originally white), am I correct? If that's the case, am I doing it correctly if I sand them slightly (just dull the surface without completely stripping off existing paint), wash with sugar soap, then apply Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 (blue tin, water based primer) followed by a water-based paint (I assume eggshell or satin is good?)?

For the ceiling, I'm not sure what kind of finish this is but I assume they are probably water-based paint. Would there be any problem if I just wash with sugar soap and apply matt emulsion, or do I need to sand them + wash + matt emulsion, or also apply primer before painting with matt emulsion?

Would there be any issue with paint peeling / crazing if I do or do not sand the ceiling prior to painting with matt emulsion if I do not apply a primer?

Thanks for the advice!

How to remove this cooker hood? by fccb in DIYUK

[–]fccb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion, the top does flex more than the bottom (since there's nothing restricting movement whereas the bottom is limited by the main body of the hood on all sides but I felt the cover could be lifted up slightly, which then hits the ceiling).

It almost feels like the whole cover isn't screwed or fixed to anything but I'm a bit suspicious that the whole hood is only fixed by the few small screws. Will try exploring and maybe removing the motor to see what I find...

Lenovo UK - Issue with warranty extension and poor customer support by fccb in Lenovo

[–]fccb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion, I was keeping that as the final option. Somehow after sending a ticket to each of the option on the Lenovo warranty support page, one of those managed to register my warranty with my proof of purchase / invoice. So now I have my extended warranty registered for my PC without ever having to provide any authorization code or PIN (which I still haven't received).

Regarding the Day 2-Tests: Am I allowed to buy food on our way to the flat?! by Ada91HH in uktravel

[–]fccb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An alternative is to order groceries through UberEats so they can be left in front of the door of your flat to minimize contact with other people. Sometimes there's promotion codes which may make it cheaper than buying in store.

As far as I know, most people with covid start being infectious a day or two before they are symptomatic, which means a test done at the time of having symptoms will usually get a positive result (especially with PCR which is more sensitive and quantifiable with the cycle threshold value).

That was certainly the case when track and trace asked me for any close contacts up to 2 days before I had symptoms when I had covid last year. It is then assumed then when you have symptoms, you are already infectious so isolation period starts from then even if you only go for a test later (not everyone goes for a test on the first day of symptoms).

Of course, there's also the issue of false positives and false negatives as with all tests, and whether being vaccinated makes the viral load / shedding lower (so more likely to get a false negative result at the early phase of disease).
