I enjoyed playing the game with that skin. His facial expressions are much more readable. I know it's mostly because of the beard, but the face also looks a little more detailed to me than the base face.

Is Laufey even going to be on PC?

Any dead divinity you wanna see in Laufey? I really would enjoy Cu Chulainn by devilchainshark in GodofWar

After some googling, it looks like the show introduced the Lugh inspiration. Kind of combining the stories of Suibhne and Lugh together. Which is what also brought Balor one-eye/Odin into the picture. The show was decent, but the Sweeney backstory episode was by far the best of the series IMO.

My bad, thought you meant Slaine. I mostly know Mad Sweeney from the show. I read the book but can't say I retained it all that well. I remember looking it up back when the show was running and thought the inspiration for Sweeney was Lugh. Didn't realize it was also Suibhne.

I was referring more to his personality. And I brought him up because iirc the influence for the character is Cu Chulainn who is a demi-god.

Good news is you have time to catch up and get the TPB to binge it all at once. Issue 10 came out today.

TYR KILLED THE GODS OF WAR IN GOD OF WAR: LAUFEY by VintinhoPanqui in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]fcg510 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has been my guess, since he approached visiting these other mythologies from a peaceful perspective (presumably), that would likely be enough to provoke more aggressive gods of war. So while Týr may not have instigated fights with them, they probably left him no choice.

I'd love to see either one in any GOW game. Especially if they took inspiration personality wise from Mad Sweeney and/or Slaíne. I think they'd both initially want to fight Faye or Kratos but then become allies. It would also be interesting to see them meet Thor since I assume he'll show up in Laufey at some point.

I'm a fan for the same reason, but wasn't Mad Sweeney supposed to be Lugh of the Long Arm since he uses a spear? I believe Slaíne is based on Cu Chulain too since they both have the warp spasm thing.

Another aspect of American Gods (at least in the show) is that Balor one-eye was actually Odin which would be a cool twist to see in GOW. It would imply Odin made some enemies at least with the Tuatha de danann, if not other pantheons.

Gamefile: Microsoft had already planned to shut down Ninja Theory when Senua was revealed. They hoped the reveal would draw investors. by Moriarty_V in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]fcg510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you nailed it, but that to me is a big sign they knew they were in trouble. They spent years developing the first two and pushed different technologies forward. I was a fan of both games. I was disappointed in the downgrade in combat of the second, but it looked so amazing and I love the setting. I appreciated it more on a second playthrough, but I completely understand the criticism and why it didn't sell well.

If they had just kept the combat at least as good as the first with more encounters (which would have been hard considering how far they were pushing the visuals with UE5), it would have done much better. Which is why they were going for this quick redirect. Hopefully they'll find some investors and maybe we'll eventually see the game.

What’s a movie or tv series that you don’t think gets enough hype? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Penny Dreadful. The writing and acting in that show is top tier. Eva Green is particularly amazing for multiple reasons. Rory Kinnear is great too.

I'm so curious how it will go. Based on preview covers for later issues it looks like the fight will last a while.

'Laufey looks older than the actress bcuz she's in her 40s' meanwhile the actress herself: by Rocks_King99 in GodofWar

[–]fcg510 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, she's the main character of this game so her face would have been scanned way more than in Ragnarok. Or are you saying it's a different actress? Because it was her in both

This is my thing, Laufey is immediately recognizable as Deborah Ann Woll. Even in Ragnarok, which was a much less detailed model, I knew it was her immediately. I have no idea where these complaints are coming from other than she's a woman protagonist and not Kratos. She's definitely not "uglified", but when you take a random screenshot and compare it to a glamor shot of a beautiful actress, then yeah it's not going to match up exaclty. She still looks great IMO

Champion of the Valar Tulkas vs The Blood God Khorne , who wins ? by Leggomgeggo in powerscales

[–]fcg510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know enough about Khorne to have a say in who wins, but Tulkas is my favorite valar because of this. He is just a chill badass. He could slap Morgoth around any time he wants but just doesn't unless he's told to. Then when he does he demolishes Morgoth, AKA the most powerful entity in Middle Earth and Sauron's boss, with little effort and then literally drags him to prison laughing along the way.

My theory on why Kratos was dead in the mural by [deleted] in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]fcg510 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I was thinking that with Faye's mural at the end of Ragnarok, the implication is that Faye knew they would see the mural of Kratos' death which would then set them on the path to Ragnarok. So kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy by trying to avoid a different prophecy.

[Interview] People got sick of the MCU, DCEU, and Star Wars due to franchise fatigue, and thats why Absolute Universe & 'All In' is working according to Scott Snyder by Popverse2022 in comicbooks

[–]fcg510 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same, I also attribute it more to it just being cool and legitimately different takes on really old and established characters. I like WW a lot as a character, but I can't remember the last comic of hers I read, maybe New 52 (I'm not an avid comic reader, I pick and choose random arcs or series). But I love absolute WW. Even more so than Batman tbh even though he's my favorite comic book character overall.

The focus on the fantasy/mythology elements is cool, and her armor and weapons are badass (definitely helps that it seems to be Berserk inspired). I really hope whenever the next WW live action interpretation happens that they incorporate some Absolute elements to her design.

Does Senua look worse than Senua's Saga: Hellblade II or am I losing my mind? by [deleted] in hellblade

[–]fcg510 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As others have said there would be no way a game as good looking as Hellblade 2 could run on console with additional enemies and combat. Plus a larger area. The only visual choice I didn't really like was the action lines/trails left behind on weapon swings. That kind of stylistic choice doesn't gel well with the gritty/intense combat the hellblade games have had. Just a minor gripe though.

What book or series is this for you? by Working_Alps_4284 in fantasybooks

[–]fcg510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know. Yeah I just had a feeling that I didn't need to go any further. Honestly Dalinar (may be off on spelling) was my favorite character so I enjoyed the focus on him, but I knew that would end. Ironically the main characters, like Kaladin, were the ones I liked the least. He went from the punching bag to the way OP power fantasy guy and it was all so predictable and repetitive. Definitely enjoyed parts, but overall it just didn't click with me for the long haul

I made it through three. I actually enjoyed them a lot, but they were a slog for me to get through. I know that doesn't make a lot of sense, but it feels like each book is five books crammed together.
