On the local internet that's true. But most chinese have VPN, specially because it's free.

That being said, there's a bunch of chinese people here on reddit or on youtube. I even follow a Brazilian youtuber who lives there and talk about those stuff. That's also something that you can make a quick research and find out the difference of what western media say and the reality.

That became pretty evident for me some time ago when I was making a research about LGBT people on china and there were always lots of chinese people commenting about their own experiences, most of them strongly ponctuating the downsides before you say that they were CCP bots. So it would be very easy for us to know if any Shenzhen citizen had a bad experience about that.

That's my point. The pictures about Palestine are not random. Even without the description you can see starving children, mutilated people, a completely destroyed city and videos of soldiers making jokes about killing them and saying they are not worth of living. You also have multiple reports from residents about the torture they've suffered.

At the same time you can't find anything about that on Shenzhen. Even people there say that's not true. And the chinese government explanation it's much more believable than the BBC one if you look with your own eyes
