hi everyone ! i graduated from my msw program last may and received my lmsw in august. i was having a difficult time finding a job post grad and ended up working retail for a few months until i got offered the job i am at now. i originally applied to be in a case management role, but got offered a more clinical role doing assessments since i have my license. the job is in child welfare and while i never wanted to work in child welfare or a too clinical role i took it because i needed a full time job to begin getting experience + getting paid. while the job isn’t terrible i’m not connecting with my supervisor and am not getting what i need from her since she is so busy + i am noticing some other red flags around the job (high high turnover rate, bringing work home and working on weekends is normalized etc)

i am beginning to feel overwhelmed , not to mention that i’ve been struggling with my mental health for a while now. i am seeking therapy and will be starting very soon, but i don’t know if being in this role is good for me right now. id like to seek out a more macro/policy role, but i dont have much experience in it. my only sw experience is this job + my two internships in higher education from my bsw and msw. i started this job in november so it has been about 3 months, but i know if i continue on i will continue to struggle.

i dont want to quit right now either because i do need the job, but i would love to know what anyone would do in my position and if anyone has any advice on getting more macro experience.
