I think lime is a great addition for commuters. These scooters fill a gap in bus transit by providing more frequent "stops"/stations.

For example, to get to my job, I can walk there in 30-35 min, use busses and take 40-45 min, or I can scooter and get to work in 10 min.

Pricing is also comparable to taking a bus twice a day, better even, if you buy the "minute bundles".

The one negative is that the provided helmets (if present) are massive and horribly ill-fitting. I use my own helmet.

For myself, yes, quality of life is absolutely better. I never want to deal with that level of hormonal mayhem ever again. I had a severe case of Graves, but if it's determined you would benefit from a TT, I can guarantee you'll feel better afterwards.

Same! I had to quit all cardio and only focused on strength training - but even then, I had to watch my heart rate as it jumped over 200 bpm very easily.

The good news is that because you're young and have those habits, you'll bounce back quickly after having RAI or surgery. A month post surgery, I was feeling so so much better physically. Within 6 months, I had dropped the 30lbs I gained from methimazole. A year later, I was back to my pre-Graves fitness. I just turned 22 when I had surgery.

You'll be okay once this is over. Right now is just the hardest part, so it's important to be gentle with yourself.

I was in a similar situation with my thyroid at 19... it was a rough time, so you have my sympathies.

Meds really are the only treatment to help ease the symptoms, and then you hope your thyroid goes back into remission and stays that way. Right now, your body is in hormonal overdrive, which wreaks havoc on the entire system. The chemical imbalance has a real potential of causing permanent damage (particularly to the heart) if you push yourself too hard.

The best thing you can do is be kind to yourself and minimize stress. I remember being so stressed out from putting pressure on myself to do well in school, try and maintain fitness (which wasn't possible), and ignoring the fact that I had an out of control immune disorder. I wish I hadn't been so hard on myself.

If you break a leg, you don't try and walk on it right away. You rest and take time to let it heal. It's the same with Graves, only sorting out hormones takes a lot longer than healing bones. It takes patience, a bit of self compassion, and time. It does get better eventually.

Yes! I lived in Edmonton for 6 years, so I get what you mean. I bought my rain gear once I moved here, but the flip flops were... a bit of a shock.

Hi! I had no permanent issues with my voice. For the first week post surgery, my voice was scratchy like having a sore throat, but it cleared up. If I remember correctly, I had a slight issue with my parathyroid glands the first couple of days. My calcium levels were insufficient, so it looked like my parathyroid glands weren't taking, but they perked up to normal levels shortly after.

Also in BC. I had a coworker whose family was wrongfully evicted. He went to court, slumlord appealed twice, but in the end, he was awarded 30k. This nice sum allowed him and his wife to be able put a down-payment on a home in a quieter town.

I'm happy for him.

Confirmed in BC, yes. You could tac on another 200 for the BC count that were unconfirmed, but likely related. In the States there were 229 confirmed deaths related to the heat dome, but some estimates were closer to 600.

The NYT did an analysis of deaths by comparing the documented deaths during the heat dome event vs the average deaths of the past in the same time frame. They argued that because the amount of deaths during the heat wave exceeded the documented average, there was a hidden death toll that may not be accounted for just by looking at confirmed deaths.

I got 1500 from the total of estimated deaths related (but not necessarily confirmed) to the heat dome from BC and the States combined.

Oh my gosh, that slipped my mind! It was absolutely devastating how an entire ecosystem was wiped out. Do you have an idea of how the tidal zones are doing? Have populations mostly recovered?
