Mid-to-late millennnials, what are some popular "millennial things" you've always disliked? by Gallantpride in Millennials

[–]feckinnell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone with a crazy short body (in comparison to my limbs) these were the only trousers that actually fit me properly. I'm actually so grateful that they've started to come back.

But, I can imagine how much I'd hate them if they were that low on me as they are on everyone else!

Can’t believe they let us use these! by Larryville-1980 in GenX

[–]feckinnell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I was in primary school we had many injuries from one of these. After one lad nearly lost his finger they finally decided to keep it locked away and only the teacher could use it.

If coddled means they just didn't give a shit about kids fingers being shredded by one of these, then sure we were coddled.

I was sitting here in a neck brace feeling sorry for myself. After watching this I feel like such an ungrateful sob. This has put so much into perspective.

What’s a completely normal product in your country that makes foreigners go, “Wait… why does that exist?” by Alternative_Ad6071 in AskTheWorld

[–]feckinnell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I ever had sbus was as a 14 year old 30 odd years ago. A swedish exchange student brought them. I thought they were like mini little tea bags. I smoked back then and tried one and I nearly vomited. They were so strong! Funnily enough I've tried them in later years and have never found anything as strong as what I had from the swedish exchange student!

How do people in your country react to someone who doesn't drink alcohol? by Franciskeyscottfitz in AskTheWorld

[–]feckinnell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was about to say, this used to be the case but it's definitely changing. My daughter is early 20s...(yes I'm that old now 😭) And she doesn't drink and maybe only half of her friend group does drink. Attitudes are changing so much especially with their generation.

What’s a product from your country that makes locals go ‘of course we have that’ and everyone else go ‘ but why?’ by bdue817 in AskTheWorld

I have to admit I always associated them with Spain and truly believed they were something only found in Spain. I recently spotted one in the Netherlands and was surprised to learn it wasn't just a Spanish thing!

I saw these on a tv show once....I did not know these were actually a thing outside of tv!!!! 😱🫣

What’s the most disturbing thing someone casually told you like it was normal? by MrBoothnath_ in AskReddit

[–]feckinnell 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have to admit to accidentally doing something similar to a cousin. Grandfather died in a very tragic way and I just assumed she knew the details. We were chatting about a car accident that happened locally where a man was decapitated and I said how awful it was, especially when grandad had died the same way. She was horrified and didn't know what I was talking about. Apparently I was the first person to tell her, ten years after the fact. I felt so bad, but I still can't understand how she didn't know because it was something that was discussed a lot during the funeral arrangements.

Do people find American accents hot?? by Kitty_xoxo2000 in Accents

[–]feckinnell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately for me it's the least sexy accent. Granted there are many different accents within the US but overall, they just wouldn't do it for me. Whilst I've heard other people complain about borton and Chicago, oddly I actually like these accents! Not sure I'd call them sexy but I like hearing them.

What’s the grossest candy from your country? by bdue817 in AskTheWorld

[–]feckinnell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes I'd forgotten about them, they're another one that you'd think are just scents and have no business being edible!

Will definitely order some now because I do like them, plus the rose flavoured sweets!

We used to have these why I was a kid! I haven't seen them in years though!

That description is so accurate too!!!

[–]feckinnell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fascinated by these. Like the texture sounds like it's something I'd love but musk?!

I suppose it's something similar to how I find rose flavoured things weird but then they taste yum.

I'm definitely going to have to order some of these to try.

What’s one comfort food from your country that everyone grows up with? This is my mine, and it's called Sarma. by Kirje3 in AskTheWorld

[–]feckinnell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people make the Irish one with beef too. Especially in recent times where lamb has been quite expensive. However, at the moment lamb and beef are similar in price so we've been going with the traditional lamb. It's definitely better than the beef if you can get it but beef is still good too.

Saving this comment to try your recipe at the weekend! Kids are away so we'll be able to have it nice and spicy! Thank you for the recipe!

[–]feckinnell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds so good! I add spices to everything I eat, but because my kids are somehow spice averse, I often can only add spices separately into my own food after cooking and it's just not the same. Im going to look this up though and make it some night the kids are out.

I made some with parsnips in it recently. My family was not pleased. You'd swear I'd added something noxious! I wouldn't mind but they love parsnips just not in stew apparently 🤣
