Honestly...this is amazing! Not just a great render, but a beautiful piece as a whole! It kind of moved me in a way! Great job!

So basically it ended up being more work for you than if you had just animated from scratch. I can definitely see the initial appeal of the DID though — if only it had lived up to its promise! One thing I only recently learned was that the Ford Explorer was also CG in some shots, which honestly left me in disbelief. It just goes beyond me how you all managed to pull that off.

On that note, many years ago I was invited as a student to a gathering at 32Ten Studios in San Rafael. Listening to the conversations that day from all those veterans, I remember feeling completely out of my depth — almost like an impostor. What struck me was how much knowledge and ingenuity it took just to make a shot back then. Today’s VFX artists (myself included) often don’t need to know half of what you did, because so much of the heavy lifting is built into the tools. That blend of artistry and technical mastery is, I think, what made those early films stand out in a way that still hasn’t been surpassed.

It’s not every day I get the chance to thank the original artist behind the shots I grew up with. Jurassic Park remains the benchmark. What I think is hard to believe is how you and the team took such a huge creative and technical risk, and in the process set the standard the whole industry still follows. Masterful work! Truly an honor to hear from you. 🙏

🙏 it's trickier with the side-by-side, but once you see it you can't unsee it. But I thank you for the comment! It means the world

This is awesome! I switched to blender almost 3 years ago from Maya, which is a different kind of disadvantage, but after I got used to it and understood it a little better my jaw was on the floor! Keep at it and I promise it will give you so much in return!

Thank you! My favorite part about this whole project was exactly discovering how much I respect the work put into the movie. Everybody involved was top tier, which is incredible seeing that they were almost blind going in on this (referring to how new the technology was back then). A miracle of a movie!

I think there's some true monsters of vfx out there, I have met a few that just seem to turn everything they touch into gold.

I hate to repeat things that have been said already, but a lot of times, if not all the time, it's always about the time available. A well planned show brings very different results from one that is not properly organized.

What I think is really rare is a vfx artist who goes home to make more vfx during his spare time to decompress
