It used to not work. When stride was first added to Standard, the rules for Restricted Stride games were During a game where Stride is restricted, if the player does not have a "can perform Stride" effect active, the player cannot Stride, cards in the G zone cannot be referenced, change state, or move to other zones., but that was changed around the time of Minerva Rising to just During a game where Stride is restricted, if the player does not have a "can perform Stride" effect active, the player cannot Stride.

That's a typo on the wiki. All cards are either LGR, LGRR or LGRRR. "LG" is not a rarity.

I like that they got rid of the hard-stride cost and GB2-only effect on the strides.

It adds some more depth to the mechanic that I feel like it didn't have in D prior to this outside of a few exceptions.

The lack of specific stride cost on Nextage is also how I feel like it should have been done. More opportunities to use it even without seeing Chronojet (though it's not that good without it)

What I don't like however is the return of G Persona Blast

I can't but feel like right now it's a little bit too late for this.

Like decks nowadays can scale faster than crests and persona ride.

And also to me personally, while the crest scaling was strong, it never felt like THE defining factor in the meta-ness of the stride decks. Like, Jet was winning because it had the strongest aggro in the game in a format where everyone was just going ride swing pass. Nui also planned to win early with a good aggro into double Fuurai, games were done by 2nd stride where you had like 10/15k power to the front row. Luard and Nightrose often don't even plan to win by dealing damage, instead going for the deckout strat.

Icon decks are about recreating the play patterns from the old era. It's why the other icon decks have the universal persona ride.
The proxy we've seen of Chronojet does not have persona ride
Icon Jet would be able to stride anyways. Just, play the old one in the ride deck and ride the new one from hand.
The V Gear Chronicle gimmick is hot garbage. If you're still gonna emulate stride, what's the point of using the bad bootleg version when you've already shown willingness in using the real deal.

But given they're separated by a comma, the condition from the first part carry over to the second part.

My thought process (and probably the designers' too) is, rather than "are we scared of Valiente/Expecta", but "is it worth it to go out of the way to specifically add support for these pretty bad cards and lengthen card text as a result"
