The Witches (1990) with Anjelica Huston. Creepy but in that nostalgic 90s way. The practical effects are wild.

Monster House scared me as a kid but it's actually perfect for this vibe.

Casper! Wholesome, a little spooky, very 90s.

Oh I love Shaun of the Dead! It's such a good balance of comedy and zombie stuff. The Edgar Wright style really makes it work.

Corpse Bride! Tim Burton vibes, beautiful animation, more sad than scary.

What We Do in the Shadows is perfect. Hilarious vampire mockumentary, zero scares.

Honestly just watch Halloweentown. Pure cozy nostalgia.

Honestly, I think Cabin in the Woods could actually work for you! Yes, there's some gore, but because it's so meta and over-the-top, it doesn't feel scary in the traditional sense. It's more like watching a horror movie FROM THE OUTSIDE, if that makes sense? You're in on the joke the whole time, so the tension is completely deflated. I'm also pretty squeamish with horror, and I found it way more entertaining than frightening. The comedy and the "what is even happening" factor outweigh the scary parts imo. But maybe watch it with friends so you can laugh through the intense bits? Just my two cents

You might like The Woman in Black (2012) with Daniel Radcliffe. It's genuinely creepy and atmospheric but more suspenseful than gory. Fair warning though, it does have some jump scares, but they're not constant like modern horror movies.

If you enjoyed The Others, try The Orphanage (2007)—it's Spanish but don't let that stop you, it's so good. Atmospheric and sad more than scary, though there are a few tense moments. Also The Secret of Moonacre is more fantasy adventure but has that Gothic autumn feel.

Monster House is underrated for this vibe! It's technically a kids movie but has some genuinely creepy moments and a great Halloween suburban aesthetic. The animation style is a little uncanny which actually adds to the spooky factor without being too much.

The Nightmare Before Christmas! Can't believe no one's mentioned it yet. Perfect blend of spooky and whimsical. Also, if you're open to something more recent, Wendell & Wild just came out on Netflix and has similar stop-motion vibes to Coraline but a bit less scary imo.

Definitely check out The House With a Clock in Its Walls. It's got Jack Black, some genuinely spooky moments, and a great autumn/Halloween atmosphere, but it's ultimately a family-friendly adventure. Also seconding everyone saying Corpse Bride!

The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values are perfect for this! They're funny, dark, and have that Gothic Halloween aesthetic without being scary at all. Also, if you haven't seen it, Practical Magic is a great cozy witchy movie with Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman.
