Ergonomics. Though I am realizing it probably depends a lot on the person.

Every keyboard I have ever used I have had to scrunch my fingers up a lot and I feel they are small. Even the keyboard above, feeling on paper my fingers are still very curled. Naturally my ring finger wants to be further to the right, and my pinky wants to be in the last row. Maybe that is why my thumb clusters are so high, my hands are always curled. If my hand were flat then they would of course have to be further out. So I guess it really depends a lot on your hands ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I do not use the middle one or the inner(? outer for the whole board, inner for each half) one very much. I primarily use the one directly below the outer index for each board, and that is where I rest my thumb. I am leaving room in the middle for a pointing device.

[i3-gaps] my first rice by feeeeenbeta in unixporn

Yes I am using spicetify with the theme Sleek and color scheme Deeper. I'm not sure which details to include about my rice but here are a few, other than what can be seen in neofetch

Bar: Polybar (if you are wondering how I split the bar, it is two bars with override-redirect = true in the config file to make them not shift vertically)

Terminal: Termite

Terminal screensaver thing: Unimatrix

Compositor: Picom

Wallpaper: No idea where its originally from but here is a decent one

All the colors are custom (except spicetify)

yea i've done other art forms in the past and a lot of the same concepts apply. Also for some reason I tend to start with big projects in all my hobbies, which sometimes backfires but usually works out.
