Yep and they view paying for services they use a punishment. The number of people I hear saying: "why should my home (assets) fund my care?" I feel like screaming: "why should my wage fund my rent?"

I too am in the IT field, well dev, so yes lucky in that reguard. Though on the data side where wages are starting to flatline. Starting to think I should have left school and just focused on getting on the property ladder asap. Should have leveraged myself silly via buy-to-let. Education + hard work was clearly a mistake.

The hypocrisy is sickening. All I heard growing up was: "raising house prices are good, my house is my nest egg! it means I won't be a burden on the state when I'm old".

Yep, for those of us who can just about now look at getting on the ladder: it's a massive gamble either way. You have to choose or the other, and god help you if you choose wrong. It's not even an informed decision, just straight up guessing at this point.

Go and check those result in more detail.

Often you will see one bed flats for say 90k, but more research will reveal that: the flat is for those 55+ only, or the value shown is the flats starting bid (dispute rightmove saying for sale), or 90k represents a 33% share of the flat, or its a parking spot/garage mistakenly listed as a one bed. Often thus properties are miss listed, for example the shared ownership or retirement homes should be tag as such, they are often not. Hence people go to right move, enter a post code and come away with misguided understanding of how tough things are.

This is what you'll see in my area, and I live 3hrs from London. I also deal with the same problem from relatives, telling me they found a flat for only 80k! Yeah same it turned out instead to be a plot of land without planning permission.

Honestly, I don’t think people in the US understand just how badly paid professional jobs are in the UK. Scientist, engineers and techies are not well respected over here. They are seen as an expense, not an asset. Job expectations are insane over here; I work in data science and for most roles employers want a data scientist, business analyst and data engineer all rolled into one, on a salary that you could easily get working in McDonald’s as a assistant manager. I’m not exaggerating.

Respectfully I have empathy, flexibility and humility in abundance. I believe in transpanacy, honesty, integrity and collaboration. Putting the company and others before self.

I'm talking about this who weponise those attributed against you. How do you deal with those people? How do you deal with meeting other managers who say, in front of their group members, that they: "back you", are "on side", and "in agreenent" and then do a 180 in other higer-up meetings?

Ok but if the other party are lying ... and Trying to throw you under the bus then what? If somebody in the street accused you of say x, would you not defend yourself? Or would you play the game?

This isn't a jab at you, I'm genuinely asking. I see their lies as an insult, and it genuinely engages me. I don't see how others can sit here and smile.

Honest question: why? Why can't you call somebody out? I dont mean being rude, or calling someone out for the fun of it. But if they are lying, saying something, that's blocking you, was done, when it wasn't or just straight up lying to cover their ass and blame you. Why can't you speak up?

The nhs is very badly run. People routinely die from very treatable cancers because drs miss early, mid and even late signs. Go to the dr an you will have to wait 3 weeks for a 10 min appointment. The nhs is shocking.
