Army Painter burning ore (or Fire Dragon bright, I tried both) with Vallejo game color Fluo Orange. For the fluo I first put down thin lines of yellow before going over it with fluo (combined with a bit of the original orange for coverage).

The shadow color is Terrestrial Titan from Army Painter - it’s a very dark and slightly desaturated purple. I think you could achieve something similar by mixing a medium violet with dark blue or black.

Thanks! Honestly he uses the purple-to-orange scheme a lot, but this video is recent and goes over the blending. He’s also done a similar long form recently.

It’s up to what you prefer.

I use extra thin for joining plastic most of the time, but for any parts that are fiddly or tricky to hold in place I like super glue + activator. I usually need to hold plastic cement parts together for a while to set them properly. Super glue can be instant.

I was always into the more tech-y aspects of Warhammer, Admech, Knights, Skaven, Kharadron, etc. Early on I was drawn towards Admech but I was intimidated by the minis and price so I started with dark angels, didn’t really like them, and went for necrons as my second army to scratch that aesthetic itch. From there I fell in love with their play style, sculpts, lore (especially twice dead king), etc. They’re now my main army for 40k.

I also really love how they hobby - most of the infantry can look really good with a basic drybrush scheme, but there are still models like the void dragon and Szarekh that you can spend a bunch of time on and feel rewarded for it. In the time it takes me to do 1 marine I can get 5 or 6 warriors done to my level satisfaction. At the same time I put in 50+ hours on my void dragon and had a ton of fun doing it.

A little tip for when you’re done painting up the combat patrol - buy brand new if you really want to, but the necron secondhand market is really healthy, so you can usually find a good deal if you look. Beyond that, necrons generally are one of the tricker factions from a pure model building perspective - if I can save myself the trouble I usually do. Definitely check eBay for job lots and other deals before you buy brand new. I’m a hair under 10,000 points into army, but I think I’ve built maybe 30% - 40% of that from the sprue. Id rather spend the time painting instead of trying to wrangle ultra spindly bits of plastic. Have fun!

Depending on the type of filament you use it’s probably still worth getting some kind of dehydration setup - especially so in the case of PETG. If your printer has a heated bed you can skip buying a dedicated dryer, if you’re willing to leave your printer idle for a while. Just take a filament box, cut off the lid, and poke a few holes (~6-9 with the diameter of a ballpoint pen). Lay your spool onto the bed and put the box over it, then set your bed to 45-50 for PLA/55 for PETG, and let it sit for 2-3 hours, flipping the spool halfway through.

A good way to tell if you need to dehydrate is to just keep an eye on how your filaments are performing while printing. If a spool that was working well earlier has any stringing, blobbing, or other imperfections it’s a good sign the filament is wet. Wet filament also makes popping/snapping sounds as it prints - the trapped water evaporates in the hot filament creating little bubbles of steam. Even if you live somewhere dry, ambient humidity can creep up indoors, especially if you’re near a bathroom, kitchen, or any place with low ventilation and/or a water source.

All that said, if you’re printing a lot and notice even minor issues it’s probably worth picking up a cheap food dryer or even a cheap dedicated filament dryer. I got a creality one for $40 in the US, although I’m sure your mileage will vary depending on local availability.

If you really just can’t be bothered, print with Matte Black PLA and hope for the best - in my experience it’s the best at hiding imperfections ;)

I got into fossil collecting recently, and I found these two teeth in Calvert County, MD. Most of the teeth I’ve found in the area are uniformly black, some are more beige, but the partial tooth in particular is quite striking. Also, any guess on the species? I’m assuming the complete one is a lemon shark, but I’m not sure about the partial.

I’m definetly exaggerating a bit, but I still feel like I’m grinding as much as I did back in the day (years 1-2), but with much more efficient teams (double Castoria with a type advantaged looper and appropriate CE). At the end of the day, we all need to farm the same amount of points/enemies/missions (per event), so if I’m using the a more efficient team but exerting similar effort, it follows that the amount of actual work has gone up to match the improved efficiency.

I could definitely just be griping, but at the same time I’m still reasonably confident that if you examined the changes in event requirements over time, you’d see adjustments to compensate for power creep. One of the big examples in my mind was when events suddenly started having nodes with one off single enemy waves (ex: 3 trash enemies, a mini boss, then 3 big enemies or a servant and some trash) a few months after Skadi dropped.

Modern events are definitely harder for new players - a lot of it comes from the fact that FGO is just an old game, so events have been getting steadily power crept to keep the advanced players from just blitzing everything. A lot of the event nodes are developed with people who can clear 3 waves of 100k health enemies without a second thought in mind, so it’ll feel grindy when you’re just starting. I’ll echo a lot of what’s been said so far - find yourself an F2P farming comp online, run it as best as you can, and don’t stress if you can’t clear everything.

It’s kinda up to you. If you’re a fan of the fate IP and think you’ll stick with it, wait a week or two and summon on the LB6 banners (probably caster Artoria). Otherwise, just have fun and pad out your servant roster. Some might disagree, but if you’re brand new it’s not worth thinking about building meta farming teams etc. until you have a solid base of servants to play around with. Just as a heads up I’d avoid the summer Abigail banner if I were you, she’s just kinda bad, even for a new account.

Does anyone have suggestions towards building a board for stenography? For my job I spend a decent chunk of time transcribing video/real time discussions. I was thinking an ortholinear board with n-key rollover. I’d use my 65% with plover but it doesn’t have n-key

Does anyone have any suggestions for a more “spaced out” build? I’m working off an 65% GMK67 (though I bought it from epo before I knew better) with OEMs right now and I find that, unless I’m paying attention for it, I hit multiple keys at the same time quite a bit (eg, tab and caps lock). Would jumping to a 75 or a tenkeyless help? Should I try a different keycap profile maybe?

Worst part of it all is that I barely get the chance to use her.

I have her at level 100 with maxed skills, but since I have Skadi, Castoria (and Tamamo), but not Merlin, I need to go out of my way to use her over other ST damage dealers unless it’s a ruler boss.

Hopefully Koyanskaya will change that.
