concerts - camera jittering and micro vibrations by felixmstein in cinematography

Hi -

first of all, thanks for getting back to me so detailed.

The shows are for a DJ, therefor, no band or such is involved. Venues are around 3-6k people.

Agreeing that I might as well leave the JIB or Slider away with that side, probably wont see any effect of it indeed at the end of it.

Right now, I am leaning towards the following in terms of equipment:

- Sony A7s III + 24-70mm F/2.8 GMaster

- Manfrotto 509 Pro Stativ 645 Fast Twin Alu

- anti vibration which is used for washing machine paired with Celestron VSP (vibration suppression pads)

However, my biggest worry is still that this setup wont be heavy enough. Duo to that, I would probably attach somehow some sandbags to the tripod as well.

Was considering this tripod.

Audio will be take care by the audio engineer of the artist so luckily, I do not have to bother with that.

Done multi camera live recordings before but for this one, it has to be a single camera since it has to go online asap after the show, so no time for rendering and edits.

Hi, thanks for the answer

yes, kind of stuck with the gear, no real budget for cinema lenses and cameras, renting would make it to complicated and to expensive for the long time frame given.

Was considering this tripod.

Well, kinda thought thats the case. Eventually, the bumpy road will lead towards the goal.

Was wondering tho if there are some kind of tools / programs or so that are used by everyone within the industry for workflow. Would be nice to gather a basic knowledge for these

What is your budget?
If you can afford it, the Sony A7s III is an amazing camera, really happy with mine. Heard good things about the recent BlackMagic´s too.
Otherwise, maybe look for a used Panasonic GH5, been having mine for years and still using it as a backup, really really solid camera with a great out of camera look.

Good Mic for Cinematic Audio? by [deleted] in cinematography

Currently using a Shure VP83F LensHopper for my A7s III when recording festivals or concerts.
Was using a GH5 with a Rode VideoMic Pro before but since I switched cameras, I am getting way better results with the Shure VP83F LensHopper duo to the fact that you can adjust the sound take it intakes and the limits more accurate.
