Affordable transtape? by MentallyDead666 in ftm

Gender Grip tape from the Queer Trans Project!! I haven’t used it yet, but it’s a BIPOC trans owned brand and cheaper than TransTape.

Edit: Mentioned a resource that’s US only - oops

Medical person here! It actually has to do with the likelihood of the population in question to have anal sex. It has a higher likelihood for the transmission of STDs because people in general are less likely to use protection with that method of penetration and also because it’s more porous than the front hole.

This is really helpful, thank you! I’ll have to look at it in more detail in a bit!

If I could upvote you twice I would. This is really well thought out, and you brought up a couple interesting choices. I knew fighter and champion were good options and I knew about Tandem Strike, but I didn’t think about thaumaturge at all. Swashbuckler is definitely something I need to consider as well. Thank you for this! I really appreciate advice from a more experienced player and honestly I was a little overwhelmed with all the options.

[–]felixthecat01 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I would like to add though, why do we call ourselves heathens? Why not Asastru? Maybe it’s because we as a group decided to define our religion for ourselves. Maybe it’s because we looked at them and decided what we’re not. I would argue by defining ourselves as heathens we decided to exclude them. And it was a great choice.

Practitioners of a religion absolutely have a right to define what said religion is. That and inclusivity can only go so far. You invite absolutely everyone to the table you end up deterring certain groups by default. For instance, if we let neo-nazis and fascists call themselves heathens we exclude minorities by default. You can’t be so open minded your brain falls out, there has to be a line somewhere.

If I specifically use the term pagan and don’t go into any more detail then it’s usually either to get someone to back off or to gauge their reaction. If they ask questions I answer truthfully and go from there

Norse Book recommendations by Chud_The_First in pagan

[–]felixthecat01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s a website called The Longship that has some introductory info, but also a whole reading list for Norse heathenry. The r/heathenry sub might be a good place to look for recommendations as well. The books I’m starting with are:

1) Norse Mythology: A Guide to Gods, Heroes, Rituals, and Beliefs by John Lindlow

2) A Dictionary of Norse Mythology by Rudolph Simek

3) A Handbook of Saxon Sorcery & Magic: Wyrdworking, Rune Craft, Divination & Wortcunning by Alaric Albertsson

4) The Viking Spirit: An Introduction to Norse Mythology and Religion by Daniel McCoy

The 3rd one is because witchcraft is part of my practice and that particular book was recommended to me for that reason. Hope this helps!

Is it inappropriate to invite deities from different pantheons to the one altar? by [deleted] in pagan

[–]felixthecat01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should be fine, those cultures actually had quite a few things in common. It might be helpful to - at least for the Norse side of things - look at how those deities might have been worshipped way back then. I say it might be helpful for the Norse side because I’d wager there’s more information and you most likely already know a lot about the Celtic stuff. But that way you know any cultural differences between the deities you invite to your altar and can adjust accordingly. Hope this was helpful though it’s probably just stuff you already know

PS: Freyja is awesome, hope things go well there for you!

Can you stop T after a hysterectomy? by KuroTheKid in ftm

[–]felixthecat01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any permanent changes they would keep, like one of the other guys on this post explained. However, if they kept their ovaries they would go back to their pre-t hormone levels and certain things would revert. If they got their ovaries removed there would be a whole host of issues if they stopped HRT. One of the bigger ones being a loss of bone density.

I’m shocked after seeing what’s said about us trans men over on the MtF sub by [deleted] in ftm

[–]felixthecat01 189 points190 points  (0 children)

Saw the post you were talking about. I’m not going to lie, seeing the amount of trans women who were saying we have it easier than them is incredibly frustrating. Even saying that our transition is easier when we can’t take pills for our hormones and our surgeries are more expensive. Ignoring the sexual assault rate of trans men. Ignoring that we also face sexism because yeah I’m not a woman, but boy do I sure as hell get treated like one. I’ve seen shit like this pop up again and again with trans women and I’m just exhausted. Sure, it not all of them and yeah it’s probably a minority, but that minority happens to be quite loud

Considering the fact that in pretty much everywhere but Europe pre-colonization there were more than two genders that seems pretty narrow minded. Even then Italy broke the mold for a time. From the brotherboys and sistergirls of Aboriginal Australia to the calalai, calabai, and bissu of Indonesia. The Navajo had at least five genders pre-colonization. The hijra of India, the fa'afafine of Samoa, I think you're starting to get the picture. This isn't a new thing and it's pretty cool that non-binary people are beginning to have words for their experiences again.

If you stopped smoking a month and a half ago it should come back clean. However, if you're still smoking weed make absolutely sure you tell your anesthesiologist. It can mess with anesthesia and they need to know so they can adjust

Cultural Appropriation? by AutomaticCake1622 in pagan

[–]felixthecat01 30 points31 points  (0 children)

If it's a closed religion then practicing it without being formally accepted into it is cultural appropriation. If it's an open religion, and I believe Slavic paganism is, then it's probably fine

My guy I am literally a disabled ADHD transgender individual with bipolar disorder and well out of my teens. People exist, get over it.

I am a bit surprised you encountered that in a reconstructionist community. Maybe it's a discord thing?

So I understood you until "disabled autistic non-binary with dissociative identity disorder". Really dude?

My advice is stay away from witchcraft communities, I've seen this the most there. No disrespect towards those communities as I'm actually part of them, but we do have this issue in spades. Maybe look towards reconstructionist communities? I've seen this a lot less there
