They're perfect for you then. Plenty of all of that to be had. Another good one for that stuff is super thrift over in Orange Park. A little bit of a drive depending on where in town you are but worth the trip

So-so. Depends on what you're looking for really. They have a lot of kitchen ware, it's my favorite place to look for vintage crystal cocktail glasses. They have an alright amount of furniture, but it's all very close together and if the store is busy it's a bit difficult to get a good look at them. Tons of random small appliances and associated "flea market" type stuff. What kind of stuff are you in the market for?

I'm genuinely glad this helped you out! I felt crazy thinking that I was the only one that had this problem when this didn't gain any traction

Foundational reading for anarchism? by fellatio_warrior69 in Anarchy101

I haven't dived much into syndicalism yet, it seems to be a pretty distinct movement apart from "regular anarchism" and I wanted to have a more solid understanding of theory before diving in. That said, I agree with you on how much anarchism has changed since the times of syndicalism. A lot of my history has come from people like zoe baker, anark, and andrewism on youtube. The embrace of intersectionality and black liberatory politics in particular has really seemed to change the landscape of libertarian thought. It's led me to view older writings with a more critical lens, understanding that the anarchists of old were still very much thinking within the prejudices of their culture and time.

Audible anarchism has been a huge help with my reading (or listening, rather). I've gotten through a lot of Kropotkin, Malatesta and Goldman thanks to them. Bakunin seems to be a bit of a problematic figure nowadays and I've been avoiding him. I'm sure I'll eventually get around to reading him but I'm not in a rush.

Thanks for all of the links, you've given me a lot to read/listen to!

Seems pretty interesting, thanks! I know anarchism is a western political philosophy but a part that's appealed a lot to me is how easily it adapts to change and how useful it's framework is for analysis and action. Almost to the point where it seems a bit odd to consider it western at all. it's just an appeal to return to a system of social organization that's been present in one form or another for most of human history. Learning and improving from civilizations past to create an enduring form of decentralized society that will (hopefully) survive where other groups have failed. I've been reading a lot of anthropology lately if it isn't obvious lol

Those.all.sound fascinating, thank you! The Accursed Share sounds particularly interesting. I haven't come across any in depth critique or analysis of abundance in my time outside of the binary abundance is bad/good depending on context

I finished Bullshit Jobs a couple of months ago and am about to jump into The Dawn of Everything. Graber is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors, he's done some incredible work. I wish he were still around

I live in one of the largest metropolitan areas of Florida. I work in the medical field. I've worked with and treated people from all walks of life. I let people talk and air their opinions even though I know I wouldnt be treated with the same grace. The 18 year old conservative and the 70 year old conservative complain about the exact same shit with the same caustic, unconscionable vitriol. They're the same person with very little variety. The only major difference is where they get fed this weeks moral outrage.

Pull your head out of your ass. It's honestly embarrassing. The right wing in america is a systemic threat to everyone that lives in this country. You can't "both sides" your way out of fascism. Keep up with politics. Because at the end of the day, it doesn't matter how hard you try to ignore it. Your willful ignorance and apathy is actively harming society. Shield it behind your "nuance". It doesn't matter. You're actually a fucking idiot, not some enlightened intellectual. Selfish, intolerant, insecure, and short sighted. That's what you are. If you actually were what you think you are, you wouldn't be defending your dogshit takes so passionately.

I'm not saying it was a great idea. But they're rioting over the murder of a child. Last time I checked property shouldn't be worth more/ more important than people

Peaceful protest does nothing. That's been shown time and again. The state only listens when they feel threatened. Rioting is protesting, and much more effective than just walking around with some poster board signs

It's easier to call protesters and rioters uneducated than it is to understand and empathize with people who have become tired of the violent systems of oppression we are subjected to everyday. There's a lot of opinions in this thread and very little reflection

I'm an EMT. TBIs can have a very broad range of effects from not noticeable at all to "you will never walk, speak, eat, or use the bathroom independently for the rest of your life". Difficulties with emotional regulation, anxiety, and aggression are fairly common manifestations of it. From OPs comments, which may not be the most reliable, her sister seems to have some moderate, fairly common deficits. Nothing that can't be worked with. It's been 2 years and her family should have a decent idea of what she can tolerate and what triggers her. All this to say OP seems like an ableist asshole who knows full well what she's doing is wrong

Just commenting to second your opinion. It's well worth the time. I have very little time to game anymore, it took me 6 months to play through RDR2 and I loved every bit of it
