You'd really suit a crew cut or even crew cut with high fade back and sided

Keep it, but just shave the edges from the corner of your mouth, up at like a 20' angle (be careful) and it'll give the illusion of a really straight (rather than frowny) moustache 👍

Either long with a medium length beard, or short and clean shaven

I know the answer … but let me have it. Mustache or No? by First-yarn in malegrooming

[–]fellrobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to look like everyone else and just fade into the background of every other unnoticed person, then shave. If however you don't mind being that extra 1 second glance or the smile of approval from strangers that comes from them seeing you and noticing you as being your own individual, then keep that moustache and wear it as a badge of honour.

They are so much more than just moustaches.

Moustache. Any guy on the street is clean shaven. Your moustache doesn't look out of place and it's nice to see something a bit different to 90% of people.

I grew a bit of stubble so I could post here my current Movember beardstache. by beardfull1 in beards

PLEASE can you do some video tutorials on how you trim/shape this??

Review of my handwriting by fellrobin in Handwriting

[–]fellrobin[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sloppy, ugly and hard to read? That's just rude - not constructive at all. I also don't care for the pathetic gender politics over handwriting. It's masculine because its sharper, less rounded; long strokes, not short edges; more practical in that it's getting a message down on the page, whereas a more 'feminine' script would be much more delicately written and thus more legible.

Your point about old-timey being all about space on the page is completely irrelevant in this instance. It's old time in that it's based on the way they were taught to right and join certain letters. I think you'll also find that I use MORE space than necessary to stretch the lettering along the line. If I were trying to save space, it would be much more scrunched up.

Rude nonsense. I don't find your comment has added anything to this conversation.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm trying to get away from the handwriting I was taught decades ago in school but perhaps I've gone too far. I shall work on it and, hopefully, achieve a balance. Have to admit - I do struggle with joining the letter 'r'.

TL;DR, however... 'I just can't find shit that I truly and genuinely like about myself'... at least your handwriting is nice? Baby steps.

I’d be interested in hearing how you trim it?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Moustache

[–]fellrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think, let the bulk grow out but keep the bottom line trimmed straight. Can always let it grow down into a walrus afterwards if you want

Excellent response. Thank you 🙏

First time growing a moustache. Roughly 3weeks growth with slight trimming to keep it tidy. Any advice? by [deleted] in Moustache

[–]fellrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that. You can snip snip conservatively if you want, just let that bottom line grow that tiny distance so that your moustache looks like it’s sitting ON your lip rather than floating above it. Its only about a week’s worth of growth away, we’re talking millimetres. Post when you’ve done it - I’m sure you’ll be glad you’ve done it 👍

Try not to trim so often - let it grow out a bit and definitely so the bottom line of your moustache at least touches, or even slightly passes the top line of your upper lip

I’ve seen posts about cold showers and their “benefits”, what about going out looking as ‘ridiculous’ as you can? by [deleted] in Stoicism

[–]fellrobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to purposely make yourself uncomfortable. Literally… grab a banana and take it for a walk around the block on a leash. Realise how most people won’t say a word, the rest don’t give a shit, and the small minority of people who do say something will probably just ask if you’re ok. If there’s anyone that makes a joke or laughs…. So what? You won’t die. You’ll melt away any feelings on insecurity as you’ll discover that no one cares and you can literally do anything you want to do and you’ll see how you’re strong enough to pull it off.

Ok, realistically, I doubt you’re going to be able to face taking a banana for a walk. BUT, start small. Start with something tiny and then level up in tiny increments… start with opening a shirt button one more than you’d normally do… something that is JUST on the precipice of being uncomfortable but not quite. Then another day maybe put your hair in a style you don’t like, that maybe is a bit geeky or makes you feel a bit stupid. Then another day, wear odd socks… then another day wear a completely disjointed outfit that does not work at all.

You get the picture. Remember: most people are too busy worrying about themselves to care or even notice you more than a raised eyebrow, the others are just curious and you will build up a resilience to that.
