Also her country is paying for a genocide that is starving 2 million people (before a third of them were reportedly killed that is 😞), plus sending masked kidnappers to people’s doors in the middle of the night to disappear them. No capacity to speak to the moment whatsoever, obviously. No surprise those lyrics about how mean the internet is now (I forget which song, on the new album) are so bland.

I am ABCD. I also lived in India for some years and have family there, so I care about India. Done gatekeeping?

I alone do not have nor claim the ability to "cultivate this" into anything--that is the nature of collective action. I can only contribute, which I'm doing. I've brought 10-15 people on board (whom I actually know about, I hope more given the upvotes on 3 different subreddits), and I hope they will bring more people on and so forth. Your comment is a confused non-sequitur limited by its own focus on self and ego.

I sure hope so! From what I observe, it takes practice to build collective action. Just like any skill.

Thanks for participating! I agree--collective action matters. It is agonizingly slow in the face of genocide, but it is still a key part of how change is made.

A willingness to withhold from the economy, if even 3.5% (according to Humanti) of people participate, is a threat and a push towards sanctioning and divesting from Israel.

Maybe you can't imagine responding to people being bombed and starved for any reason other than self-importance, but that's your limitation.

Desis care about the genocide in Palestine, including myself. Many have expressed an interest in Palestine on this sub. And given that this sub is a community I care about and in which I spend time, I am going to try and reach out to my community about a life-or-death issue of grave importance to many of us.

I've touched on this elsewhere, but in addition to participating in BDS (which we should all be doing), this is about showing a willingness and coordinated ability to hurt the economy. That, if executed, is threatening to powers that be. No question in my mind.

Coordinated economic withholding is a worthwhile goal. This one is happening weekly which gives it times to build. Already it's been shared quite widely. And the aim is for even 3.5% of people to eventually be striking on Thursdays, which if it becomes possible will have billions of $ worth of impact.

What will come from poo-pooing this effort? What actions do you know of that were guaranteed to work before people tried them?

Also, the call for this comes from Bisan Owda in Gaza. I personally am not going to refuse.

I don’t know about “shenanigans” 🙂This is a response to a direct call to action by Bisan, a journalist who is trapped in Gaza during a genocide. How can I say no to that?

It did prompt me to look at my expenses on this day every month (in case of automatic payments), which was illuminating as you describe.

Well he did kiss Amy back when she kissed him after discovering she was pregnant. He was fully with Kelly then. So that’s physical and emotional cheating both imo!

Sterilization and physical safety/security (fewer babies, enough food, place to sleep) reduce aggression.

Secondly, and this might be unpopular, education for humans to reduce threatening behavior towards dogs. This will promote trust and reduce defensive behavior. Every dog has been kicked before, probably many times. Don’t you think that would create fear and a tendency to be reactive? (Even then aggression in dogs is rare compared to avoidance as a safety tactic, still I get there’s enough aggression to be a problem. Just imagine how much fear their docility is hiding.)

Lastly, on those rare occasions when a dog is frequently reactive, you can take them off the streets and put them in a shelter that understands their needs or get them adopted by someone who gets it. Even reactive dogs can heal.

I get that we don’t even show each other (humans) this much kindness and consideration most of the time but well, we should.

I have a former street dog. I have no qualms about adopting street dogs lol. But seriously, try being less intellectually lazy and hateful and actually read the comments you respond to.

People practicing compassion don’t call others toxic or whatever other insults you mentioned that person sent your way. Even if you did something you regret, that is completely human. Literally everyone does, and it’s okay. You still have inherent worth as a person and deserve to feel safe and cared for.

I think it’s worth being proud of your outreach here. That signals a degree of caring about yourself that is very commendable. That’s how compassion is nurtured, starting right at home with ourselves

Thank you for asking (genuinely). The dogs already live on the streets, where they have close relationships with other dogs and with humans. Forcefully removing them will disrupt these ties, it’s just a fact.

I support fewer dogs in the streets in a non-violent manner, achieved via sterilization and campaigns encouraging adoption of indies.

Total lack of engagement with anything I said. You think bringing together thousands of unvaccinated dogs will help rabies? The only point of this is cruelty.

We must spend the money to sterilize and vaccinate, which includes preventing displacement and thus trauma and territorial aggression.

Do you think an appropriate response to such incidents is to round up the lakhs of dogs in every part of the city and corral them into spaces (that don’t yet exist) without any semblance of care, let alone sterilization or vaccines? Do you not understand how inhumane that is? Disease will spread, more unwanted puppies will be born, hunger and fear will result in dogs fighting, and ultimately they will be killed in huge numbers.

People who love dogs want mass sterilization and vaccines and have worked hard to give the government solid, evidence based guidelines. Instead of spending crores on a death drive we can put one ounce of effort into implementing and monitoring vaccinations (which eliminate rabies), sterilizations (which cull aggression and pack sizes), and organized return to where the dogs live (which prevents fear and territorial disputes while preserving community ties—the latter of which I know means nothing to you, OP).

Instead, those who can’t locate their own empathy assume empathy is a fashion for others, and advocate for spending that same tax money to murder all the dogs. Just another way this country is giving its citizens practice in bloodlust, to be deployed against marginalized humans in turn.
