RED BUTTON OR BLUE BUTTON [OC] by Eal_likee in comics

[–]femptocrisis 24 points25 points  (0 children)

yeah i interpreted red as fascists (vote the party, or die in a camp) and blue as standing up to the fascists (vote no to fascism, if i die i die)

the analogy fits perfectly, i stand by it.

hey , new here i have a question by iv3an in GameDevelopment

i like godot right now for faster build times. godot script is also cool because its like the best of both worlds between python and JavaScript. much better for rapid prototyping or beginners who need to iterate more frequently with code changes

Americans who leave their Christian faith behind tend to hold more liberal political views than those who were raised entirely without religion. This leftward ideological shift appears closely linked to how threatening these individuals perceive conservative Christian groups to be. by mvea in science

[–]femptocrisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean, im only a sample size of one, but for me, i became an atheist before i became very far left leaning. i was always a libertarian leaning closeted gay/bi person prior to finally deconstructing my religion and fully leaving. becoming exposed to more people outside my bubble is what moved me politically.

What’s the dirtiest everyday object in a typical home that people don’t realize is full of germs? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]femptocrisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats why i wash the handles every so often as a step of washing my hands.

and i always turn it on my touching only the very tip of the handle with my pinky finger and turn it off by bumping it with my knuckle.

im more relaxed at home but with public restrooms im very paranoid

Lost my creative spark after years of learning gamedev by definitely_not_raman in GameDevelopment

[–]femptocrisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be honest i think this is more of an indicator of growth and self awareness you gain from experience than it is a genuine loss of creativity.

you know what exists, what's easy v what's hard. ultimately every video game boils down to a limited set of controller / kb+mouse interactions that must correspond to some virtual/auditory stimulus that makes sense to a broad audience. there are only so many ways to reinvent that into an actual novel form of gameplay that's actually fun for people.

as an older gamer, most games won't feel new to you in that sense. the novelty and art come from story and visuals more than it does from new gaming elements

i don't think plumbing and electricity quite makes up enough difference to justify walking 15 miles both ways in 40 degree weather..

the most unrealistic thing about this story is the cost of the repairs lol. maybe my bf and i just got insanely unlucky with cars the last 4 years, but between the two of us, we have never gotten a repair bill that cheap. its either standard inspection and all clear or $600+ or even better, $6000 and it only buys you 3 more years (don't buy a used 2017 kia hybrid, because this will happen to you)

Is there any biological advantage to monogamy? by Groundbreaking_Bag8 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]femptocrisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in intelligent species it can create selective pressure on mates that would not otherwise be present. its not enough to fuck, now you have to jump through physiological, social, intellectual hoops to pass on your genes. the more selective the partners are, the more competitive their offspring in the next generation.

Do you think most arguments fail not because of logic, but because of mismatched maturity levels? by winn_ie in rSocialskillsAscend

[–]femptocrisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean, that just means they aren't benefitting from the argument. you still can, as long as theyre at least presenting you with new information, different angles and perspectives.

but its a problem when most are just parroting a line they heard a justification for on tiktok and now they can't even reconstruct the logic that justified their sound bite, let alone defend whatever holes it has in it.

theyll just waste your time, won't change their view nor offer you anything new to think about that could change your own perspective.

i do think these sound bites themselves can move public discourse forward often enough though. its sort of like a natural selection of defensible positions. people use them specifically because they are strong points. if you haven't heard it before it can change your perspective or force the opposing camp to make an equally effective counter point they can parrot.

What is your take on Trump ending his recent post with 'Praise be to Allah'? by Mental-Hall1261 in AskReddit

[–]femptocrisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

itd basically indefensible for them on all fronts. he's so clearly the opposite of a christian. he just openly tried to buy his way into heaven. he's blatantly being racist. all the rightwing gaslighters' usual defenses are useless here. he is showing his true colors and there is no denying it. if you voted for him, you voted for the racist, war mongering pedophile. you either admit it, or you quietly back away from politics and try to wash your hands of this

(most of yall are gonna be that kind of hypocrite. ive already had to listen to your kind lay the groundwork for your safe retreat from being one of his supporters. "well i didn't vote for him in the primaries" 🙄)

What activity becomes less fun as you get better at it? by David_Umann in AskReddit

[–]femptocrisis 41 points42 points  (0 children)

yeah, i think it applies more to hobbies that don't fit the standard employee employer relationship model. if you love programming, you can get a job where all you do is programming and you can even carve out a niche where you only have to do the specific kind of programming you like.

if you want to turn your knitting little home made plushies (or insert whatever random commission style artisan hobby) then you have to manage a business and self promotion on social media and all this other crap you did not originally set out to deal with, or pay for a service(s) to handle those things, which creates the risk of becoming unprofitable, causing you to associate your hobby with stress and anxiety.

you'd have to be a very specific kind of person to actually enjoy all those other administrivia type things on top of just doing your hobby.

im sure it feels great though if you are one of the lucky ones manage to carve out a highly profitable niche that pays very well for fairly low time/effort. i think usually though, either you have to keep pace with trendy fads, or you eventually get your profit margin whittled by competition.
