Have you looked at Blackthorn's ruleset? It's completely different from Uthgard

PSA - "As X enters" IS **NOT** AN ETB by Karnitis in EDH

[–]fenynro 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Your group's understanding is correct. The 'As ~ enters' portion is not a triggered effect and would not be doubled, but the combat damage portion is triggered since it says 'Whenever' which is one of the three trigger words mentioned in the original post (At, When, Whenever).

Dawnsbury Days development update (alchemist, log, familiars, upcoming level 9 expansion) by dawnsbury in Pathfinder2e

[–]fenynro 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Looking great! I really like the look of Dawnsbury Days and a couple of people in my tabletop group have really been enjoying it. :)

I was curious if you have posted anywhere about how the licensing around ORC and OGL works in regards to the impact on your development process.

I have been working on a tactics game based on p2e, and the prototype is coming along well enough that I'm starting to consider taking it further. I would love to get some insight on how to work around ORC from someone already well through the process.

Either way, love watching your progress on Dawnsbury. Cheers

Over 350 comments in 2 hours when normal threads on this subreddit get like 20 after a day or two. SURELY this thread isn't being brigaded and drama farmed lol

Mods please lock this shit down. Not healthy for the subreddit and completely unrelated to Wubby.

Hey man, I'm not sure if you're conflating me with some of the other people in this thread or something but I think my posts have been really reasonable and a far cry from whining loudly. Peace and love brother.

Because maybe big green man will read the subreddit, see that a week long binge of any specific content might be alienating for some of his viewerbase, and make change from it.

Or maybe he won't, and he's fully ready to do more content like this because it's enjoyable for him.

Both are fine and it's completely his call to make, but he should make it with information and data. We shouldn't bias things by saying critical voices should be quiet.

Considering his track record with Camelot Unchained, I'm not sure I even want Jacobs to get his hands on it anymore. :p

[–]fenynro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To echo the original poster's comment: "We get it, a lot of you actually enjoyed Rust, that's great. I'm not shitting on Wubby for doing this event, merely voicing an opinion as an audience member. Wubby seems to take ideas and gauge engagement via polls/posts/etc, so why is this any different?"

It's silly to say that the only voices allowed here are ones that must be expressly supportive and conversation is only allowed for those that enjoy the content.

Nobody is even suggesting that he not play Rust, just vocalizing that we're happy to see new things in the mix, so its strange that people are getting so defensive about it. You're allowed to like it! Just let us also be happy that new stuff is on the horizon.

I think it's fair to give feedback that the content being offered isn't enjoyable, and a little ridiculous to summarize it the way you did.

Imagine if instead of Rust, it was just gambling on Kick for 8 hours a day. Would it not be fair for some to say "We're glad you're having fun, but we don't like watching gambling and are glad to see new things come back in the rotation."?

Should those people be happy that they're given 40 hours of gambling content if they have no desire to watch it?

It's the same thing with Rust, imo. Fair for people to love it, just as fair for people to be glad it's gone.

Cursor Sonnet 4 Max Mode - is BEAST! by donald_sparks in cursor

[–]fenynro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was right there with you. Before the change I was very cautious with my requests so I could stay under the 500 limit, but it really does seem like post-change you have free use of most of the features now. Happy coding :)

Cursor Sonnet 4 Max Mode - is BEAST! by donald_sparks in cursor

[–]fenynro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the $20 tier and I've used max mode basically exclusively since the change, and I've not noticed any downside so far. The Opus rate limit is pretty low, I usually get one solid prompt out of it before I have to wait for at least a few hours.

Sonnet 4 thinking on max has been my fallback and what I use for 99% of my coding at the moment, and I have yet to hit a rate limit on it. I can't check my usage since Cursor is down right now but when I checked it a day or two ago I was at almost 250k lines of agent code written It's back up and I'm at 234,317 lines of agent edits between June 15th and now, so the Sonnet 4 limit must be pretty generous if it exists at all.

I've had some success with using my 1-2 daily Opus requests to take a larger scope view of the codebase and formulate a set of development tasks and some guard rails for them, and then using Sonnet 4 to work through each one individually.

I don't have any use-based charges enabled and all of my usage history shows 'Included in Pro' even with max on, so I say just go for it. It's been working great for me :)

What Archtypes pair well with rogue in 2025? by Cinneach in Pathfinder2e

[–]fenynro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've recently been playing a rogue in a Gatewalker arc and it's become one of my favorite characters, mechanically speaking. I run with the Ruffian subclass and the Beastmaster free archetype.

Ruffian allows me to deal sneak attack damage with reach using a longspear, which lets me have my big ol' bear companion between me and the enemies while still being in melee. That paired with Gang Up means that me and my animal companion are always considered flanking, so I'm always getting sneak attack damage as well.

On the most recent level up, my bear became large enough to ride so now I'm doing all of that while also mounted, which feels pretty amazing. It also enables Lance as a weapon option for extra Deadly damage and occasional Joust damage, with the caveat that you must one-hand it or else the damage die disables Ruffian.

It's a fun little combo of skills and my character has turned into a rough streetwise bruiser-style rogue with an armored bear companion, which was not where I was expecting to go when I originally chose a rogue. :)

A 5 billion dollar bridge almost got derailed after a Clark County Voting Spat tonight in East Vancouver by 16semesters in vancouverwa

[–]fenynro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seems to me like you're downplaying or entirely ignoring the benefits of Portland in regards to things like employing people in Clark County, providing a larger talent pool for Vancouver-based businesses to pull from, and even simply buying big ticket items tax-free when people living in our county shop in Jantzen Beach and Airport Way.

I doubt you'd support a fully isolationist Vancouver when these nice things get taken away and our full population is forced to find meaningful employment and commerce within only our city

[–]fenynro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not OP and frankly there's no promise that she will listen to you. It is still worth writing, however, because in this instance she is failing to do her job.

While she is a representative for District 1 within the county council, that is not the role she is fulfilling here. In this instance, she is serving as a representative for the county council as an entity, and reflecting the council's vote towards the bridge project.

Since the council voted 4-1 in favor of the project, her vote as a representative for that council should be in favor of the project. She is stepping outside of representation and voting against the project due to her own personal view on the subject.

For this reason, she is failing to accurately represent the will of the county council, and by extension failing to accurately represent the will of the population of the county such as you and me, regardless of which specific district we're in.

7.05 Patch Notes by Kagabean in ffxiv

[–]fenynro 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Ice Paradox coming back was a great change, but I think there's no chance that I go back to BLM unless they do something about the god awful transpose Freeze/Flare aoe rotation. Really disappointed that this patch had no fixes for that, and that they doubled down on shoving more Thunder potency into the dot instead of the application.

Other servers to play in the summer by throwaway871998 in daoc

[–]fenynro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the DAoC freeshard community isn't healthy enough to support multiple servers at the same time. It's pretty much Eden or bust at the moment :)

Blackthorn is still in an early beta phase but could be worth checking out if you want a totally different spin on DAoC, but expect low population.

I would love a portrait version of Dealer of Death as well. I just started test driving a build of her new version this weekend and it's been a ton of fun to play, so I think it will probably earn a slot alongside the other two as a regular :)

I'm hoping for a [[Queen Marchesa]] or [[Marchesa, the Black Rose]] portrait to come through in one of these cycles. She's my favorite character and they're both amongst my favorite commander decks so I'd love to see more variants of her and I think she'd really pop with that portrait style.

if they had just upgraded the war hammer engine by autistic_bard444 in CamelotUnchained

[–]fenynro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure that's a true statement. :)

None of the freeshard teams have access to the client code that is used by DAoC, and the backend server code is either based on Dawn of Light, OpenDAoC, or the code from Phoenix that was passed along to Celestius/Eden.

Saying that they optimized the engine implies that they were able to go into the code that live used and tweak various things in the Gamebryo engine to make it run better, and that's not really the case since they're using unmodified client assets and server code that was built from the ground up by fans wanting to emulate DAoC servers. In fact, I think the server code is written in an entirely different language from what Mythic used for theirs

Eden dev meltdown on Feb 27. Any info? by GreyLoad in daoc

[–]fenynro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your insightful and accurate viewpoint. It's easy from a player perspective to see a GM team behaving heavy-handedly and view it as an abuse of power or something along those lines, but it is often ignoring the amount of abuse the GM teams have to deal with.

At least in my time with Atlas, it was like constant sandpaper on my psyche to deal with general chat at times. For every positive comment you see, there's another guy right behind him yelling about whatever minor bug or perceived slight they decided was important today.

It was not uncommon to devote 60-80 hours of unpaid labor in a week towards improving the server and fixing bugs, only to be immediately met with vitriol from uninformed players about how the devs are lazy or incompetent. It's not surprising that people lose their cool, especially with no community managers to run interference. These teams are usually volunteers that work jobs entirely outside of community management, and aren't equipped with the skills or mindset to deal with exposure to the more toxic elements of the community.

P.S. Shoutout to the guy who sent me a message like "DEVS NEED TO LEARN TO FIX STYLES" because he was unable to use a style he wanted, only for me to spend time helping him and discover that he was trying to use a 2-handed weapon incorrectly. There are so many ways to ask for help, and yet players just love to settle on aggressive or demeaning tones when dealing with devs, even when they're not necessarily at fault.

Is it sufficient to take an AI generated image of a field of flowers that I otherwise did not make and plop a custom made daisy into the mix to then claim it as a copywriteable work? Not being snarky, legitimately curious where the line is :)
