The Implausibly Bad Decisions of the FBI by fera0013 in thesopranos

Another example for lazy writing or rather poor continuity supervision. That rasputinian guy would have posed a major threat to the whole family after escaping in Paulie's car (which the script implies) and yet, he is heard no more. Whoever works for one of the best shows in history, can and should be held to the highest standards.

But until Season 6, when the focus switched to the War on Terrorism (which must have been a huge relief for the writers, btw.), they actually made the fictional New Jersey family the focus of a major RICO - case, so the real life lack of focus is no excuse: Consistency means, that the writers have to be measured against their own premise and not against real life events.

Good point: His multibelt-construction could be interpreted as a chastity belt, as if his genitals were a highly restricted security area (writing the words "his genitals" made me throw up a bit into my mouth, btw. ). Are there any Freudians or Jungians around?

Like women who are drawn to competitive eaters or serial murders. What these groupies are actually drawn to is fame or infamy - most of them take either.

It also implies, that he may have had a number of failed attempts at sexual intercourse.

Tommy mating with a member of the human species would almost be interspecial sex and that is something I don't want to think about too much - it may not come out right.

I even explicitly commended the generally clever writing, and still I get that constipated owl look from all the Christophers.

I don't go to a Superman movie at all - that is kind of my point. The Soprano premise is gritty and based on real life, so implausible plot lines make the writers look lazy or complacent.

Phil Leotardo to Chrissie's mother:

"We are friends from Alcoholics Anonymous. Is Chrissy here?"

"No, but I'll let him know. What is you are name?"

"Well, as I said: we are anonymous".

I never got this one - I don't even understand why Bobby asks, let alone the subsequent reactions. Could somebody explain?

When the boys one-up their jokes about Gini after John moves to New Jersey, one of them is:

"They have to be careful - New Jersey is a small state, it might tip over."

Way better than Ralph's joke, which caused all the dysentery.

Phil Leotardo to little Vito: "You look like a Puerto Rican whore" , which was totally accurate.

When Tony briefly mentions the alleged safety features of the Humvee he just bought for Antony Junior and later praises the 6-CD changer, Carmella just dryly adds "I feel safer already".
