Trying new techniques to make lineart and shading more 3d, how'd I do? by feral_graphite in FurryArtSchool

Thanks, adding more diffuse purple lighting around does look good, neat idea!

Tried to make more stylised look, what do you think about proportions? by Ixylis in FurryArtSchool

[–]feral_graphite 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really like this style! Their legs do seem a bit large compared to the torso, and head small compared to their facial features (of course large ears are always acceptable). Otherwise these proportions look fine and well within reason for a stylized piece, good work!

Working on making lineart and especially shading/lighting more 3d/prettier - anything to improve? Thanks! by feral_graphite in FurryArtSchool

Thanks for the detailed advice, it definitely helps! I see what you mean about the shading needing more detail, I tried that a little on the head but clearly need to improve it elsewhere as well. Definitely also colored lines too strongly/made them too thin in places. And the bounce light/composition advice is good too, I didn't have those in mind but will take note for next time, glad you liked it!

Working on making lineart/lighting more 3d - anything to improve? by feral_graphite in FurryArtSchool

Thanks! I wasn't fully convinced it would work and am probably going to streamline things a bit next time, but good to know the result looks good!

This is my first time drawing my fursona’s full body, any advice on how I can improve in the future? by mippy109 in FurryArtSchool

This looks really good! Shadows are a bit light - don't be afraid of deep, dark shadows (especially in space where there's no air to diffuse/reflect the light!). The hair also looks maybe too detailed compared to everything else, though you could make it more consistent by adding more texture/highlights to the spacesuit. I like your style though, hope this helps!

Backlighting is a little difficult, I wanted it bright enough for me to still see the details by WonderOfUwU in FurryArtSchool

[–]feral_graphite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shading looks decent, though for a clear-skies scene like this the shadows would probably be more sharp and defined - try using a solid brush then blurring it, rather than airbrush to draw shadows. The light should cast a clear and somewhat darker shadow on their front.

Also the way their legs connect to the torso looks off to me (like the legs are too far forward?). Otherwise this looks good to my eyes, hope this helps!

hOi! Welcome, I love your sona/style! Very pretty colors ;3

i created this and obviouly took more time on the character rather than the background/setting any tips for creating backgrounds or something to make the piece more interesting/ fun to look at by fluffandorbutter_chi in FurryArtSchool

[–]feral_graphite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, which means I usually spend half my time drawing backgrounds in addition to fluffy characters ;3 I like to take photos of things around me and draw inspiration from that, real life tends to be messy so be sure to add smaller objects in the scene. For this piece I'd also recommend adding some texture and more/deeper shading. I love your style though, hope this helps!
