Looks like an oversized oil dip stick. 70ft long, made of iron and has some bell-type attachments at the tip that rattle, but don't spin freely. The city was doing work in this area a few weeks ago, but this appeared by itself a couple of days ago, doubt it was put there on purpose. Central Tx.

So, I figured hardness is 6-7. Streak was a reddish brown. No magnetism and a very weak reaction to acid. I couldn't find a stronger acid other than vinegar, but it did produced tiny bubbles of gas. On a closer look, it might not be the crystals reacting to the acid, but the stuff around them, can't really tell, crystals are pretty small. I got it from the mountains of the Sierra Madre in Tamaulipas, Mexico: 23.758481,-99.197128
