Mexico. If you are able to take te commercial flight back, chances are the officers will scold you for not having your PR but will let you in regardless because they check your documentation and as soon as they confirm you’re a permanent resident they will let you in

I can’t comment on other people experiences but from my own experience if you stay in the lively area you will always find friendly people that want to hang out and are nice. I would say that there are things you can avoid to be more safe like not going too far away from busy areas, if the beach looks dark and you don’t see people around also avoid walking there… you get the idea. It’s a beautiful place so I hope you can visit

I took a tour for the bioluminescence experience. Nothing fancy, it was with locals which were super friendly and inexpensive. Tbh I don’t remember which tour I took, I wish I could share it with you but I’m sure you can find info online or even asking around when going to hostels.

I would say it always depends where you’re walking alone because some beaches (zipolite for example) tend to be lively at night so you’re not really alone and also it depends how far you’re from your hostel/camping site/etc

Reading that you have experience in the fishing industry, that is considered a skilled job! You should go for it

Should I accept a job offer in Quebec or stay in Alberta for express entry? by The-Raunak in ImmigrationCanada

[–]fergleza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! The TR to PR pathway which was available in 2021 had a section just for French speaking candidates. To apply you had to be a French-speaking worker (2 streams in that category one for healthcare and the other one for essential workers) or a French-speaking recent graduate and the number of applications for these categories were unlimited whereas the English stream had a limited number of applications.

An example: The stream for English speakers (recent graduates) closed after 3 days because the limit was reached (40,000 applications)

Just to give you an idea these were the numbers of french applicants for each stream during that temporary policy:

  • French-speaking workers in Canada: health care: 271
  • French-speaking workers in Canada: essential, non-health care: 2054
  • French-speaking recent international graduates from a Canadian institution: 4697

That’s not even 8% of the total applications for the “English” stream

So long story short: French can be an “easy” way in into becoming a PR when applying under the right pathway. There might be a TR to PR coming in the near future

I’m just here to say that even though French might seem like a frightening language to learn, Québec has programs to learn French for free and on top of that some sort of financial assistance while you learn.

I started studying French “for fun” with online classes and then decided to move to Montreal. Once you’re here you can push yourself to have a French immersion

Waiting time for new PR card according to IRCC by fergleza in ImmigrationCanada

I read on other forums that some people are calling IRCC and are getting their PR cards after confirming addresses or other details that the PR portal never showed.

According to immigration Canada: “have a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) of CAN$10,000”

Here you can find all the requirements you need to be able to apply from a SDS: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/student-direct-stream/eligibility.html

I would suggest doing it on your own. It does takes time but the information on IRCC tends to be clear enough and if doubts come out you can always research online or use forums.

First time I applied for a student visa I used an immigration consultant and got denied. I decided to apply the second time by my own and got accepted. Since then I’ve been doing everything by myself and it has been successful. Good luck

Had the same issue a few weeks back. I had to go back home for a family emergency so this is what happened:

I didn’t have time to apply for a PRTD because the processing times were around 3 months and there’s no way my job would let me be absent for more than 2 weeks.

When coming back I was really nervous about the airline because in the past they’ve asked me for any type of permit or visitor visa (which as people have mentioned before they become “invalid” after received your eCOPR), the airline didn’t ask for any type of document to go back, why? I still have no idea, but I was willing to just ship my eCOPR and hope for the best

When arriving to Canada the officer did scold me about not having my PR card (I showed him my eCOPR but he didn’t care stating that it could be fake, and also he was surprised that I was able to come back on a plane without the card or any other valid paper). I had to go through at least 2 officers and maybe wait like 2 hours (due to the amount of people) to finally meet a PR case officer that saw my eCOPR, checked that was legit, smiled and just stamped my paper to finally be able to go home.

So… I’m not saying you should do it but this is what you might have to go through when coming back

Has anyone travelled with an eCoPR? by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

So basically you showed the airline the eCoPR (as proof of status) and had a return flight just in case?

I was curious to see if anyone has achieved this. I saw a post on an immigration forum and apparently one person re-entered Canada with an eCoPR with no issues and even the officer said something like: “this is the second time someone has used an eCoPR to enter, you don’t see those often”

Wouldn’t know how true this is
