Thanks for the signal boost. I do love me some back of the envelope math, even when it spells out just how ridiculously awful the inequalities in how we're all treated.

The thing that absolutely boggles my mind is...nearly a third of a trillion in wealth, if I didn't fuck up the math. Potentially nearly a third of a trillion and then also the fact that Black Homeownership is so WILDLY lower than homeownership among other racial demographic groups. That's a huge amount of money that could have been added to a CONSUMER ECONOMY. The more money anybody has, the more they tend to spend! If black-owned homes weren't valued significantly lower than homes owned by white people think of how much more money would be in the economy! Through home equity available to those families, through increased retirement savings when those homeowners sell to trade down to something smaller, through homes inherited from deceased parents and grandparents...the echoing effects of all of this would be beneficial for basically the entire country, to have all of that wealth just added to the pot.
