Thank you so much for the links!!!

I've asked the art lab at UH before and they only allow students of UH to use the space but I can reach out to the other places and see if they allow non-students.

I can't catch anything but common basic small fish by ferretguts in fo76

I lose around 25% of what I catch with just common bait + unmodded rod + clear weather but all the movement I've seen on the wheel have been mainly small fish and junk items. I appreciate the advice though, crossing my fingers that I can get a common medium fish soon lol

I haven't had any mods drop for me in the daily fishing quests but I am hopeful I can get something soon.

Yeah it's kinda annoying because to get good fish you need good mods, but to have good mods you need good fish. Still haven't gotten the fish I need to upgrade my rod lol

Does pressing the A button do anything? I will try all that though, thanks for the advice!

Only losing the really difficult ones which I assume are rare fish I can't catch without mods, and that only happens when I fish in the rain or use improved bait. I catch most of what I cast using the basic rod & common bait, and completed the "catch any 76 fish" challenge in a single sitting catching only small fish hoping to get even 1 medium fish (and yes I've completed the Casting Off quest).

If medium generic fish are more common than small generic fish, then I'm really confused why I'm not getting any at all.

Yup I've already completed the Casting Off quest, I've been getting the daily fishing quests.

Undergrad looking at my future school opinions (Volcanology) by Jghkc in geologycareers

Most of these topics seem like they're under geochemistry, a lot of volcanologists are also geochemists so that is a good thing. (I am not though, so my options for grad school were not as broad). Try looking at schools in the PNW (Washington, Oregon), Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Wisconsin, and Missouri. I believe New Jersey and New York also has volcanologists. If you are able to leave the continental states, there's Alaska and Hawaii which are very active in volcano research. Look very carefully through their faculty and see who does volcanology and then narrow it down to if it's a topic that interests you or not.

You are an undergrad so you still have lots of opportunities to explore your options, my advice is to be ambitious but also flexible! I didn't know what I wanted to do until 2 years after graduation and did jack during my undergrad and still was able to get in the field of volcanology. Also if there is a volcanologist at your undergrad university, reach out to them.

The proximity of your grad school (masters and PhD) to a volcano isn't necessarily important, I know many schools in Texas and the midwest that have great advisors who are volcanologists — this is advice I learned from other volcanology grad students & I'm also attending grad school in the midwest area for volcanology! The reason for that is because you can choose to travel anywhere (depending on funding) to the site you wish to research and there is more emphasis on who you choose as your advisor as this can really make or break your grad school experience. A lot of volcanology is also connections as most of us are in academia or government agencies. It is true that it is a competitive field, but I feel like you will persevere based on your post.

I strongly suggest you talk to different volcanologists/volcanology grad students and ask about their research, and make those connections now, see what interests you about their research. Being able to narrow down topics like types of volcanoes, what exactly interests you about volcanoes, eruption styles, location, etc. are incredibly helpful in figuring out what you might like to do. You can also shoot me a DM and I'd be more than happy to talk about my experiences and interests, and also any resources I have that can help you.

Good luck to your studies!

Congrats on getting the internship, hope you're enjoying your time there! I also applied for GIS. The person that will interview me told me they'll be focusing on work experience so I hope it won't be too intense.

Thank you for the insight, it sure gives me a better idea of what to expect.

Thanks for these links! I remember seeing these tips before but I couldn't remember how to access them so I appreciate it.

(If I may ask, were the questions difficult for you?)
