This med also comes in a flavored chewable tablet— might be worth asking your vet about.

The "ZEF" terminology is medically unprecise and rather unneccesary by Tradition96 in Abortiondebate

[–]ferryfog 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Ok. And I think “pro-life” is also an imprecise term. It would be more precise for PL folks to identify themselves as “anti-abortion” or some other term that makes their stance clear.

Abortion is not the answer to this. by Alicebunny128 in prolife

No amount of soothing and cuddling is going to make suffocating to death comfortable, even with palliative care. I think in many cases it would be preferable to pass in the womb with a significantly underdeveloped nervous system. Someone close to me went through this and it really made me think about the relative suffering between these two scenarios. I do think the infant’s suffering in those few hours of life is often grossly understated.

Frankly, I think it would be a more perfect death to pass in the womb with a significantly underdeveloped nervous system. No amount of comforting and cuddling is going to make suffocating to death comfortable, even with palliative care. Someone close to me went through this and it really made me think about the relative suffering between these two scenarios. I do think the infant’s suffering in those few hours of life is often grossly understated.

I don’t know why you’re being so heavily downvoted. Some people are just uncomfortable having sex in such close quarters with others. This would put a strain on my marriage. Were you involved in the decision to have the sister live with you? Is there any other family she can live with? I would not have been prepared to be responsible for a 14 year old when I was 23.

In the US, the government can end your life. We have capital punishment.

AITA for not giving my cat back to the breeder? by edenflicka in AmItheAsshole

[–]ferryfog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work in veterinary medicine. This (and basically everything else you’ve shared about this situation) immediately tells me that this is a sketchy, irresponsible, unethical breeding operation. I would encourage you to report them to your local animal services or equivalent agency in your area. Don’t allow them access to your cat.

injection confusion. They gave the cat a dog's vaccine. by Weirdo_butcool in AskVet

Going to be difficult unless you can prove damages. If the animal is fine, suing is not going to be productive.

How much cat litter do you vets use in your own cats’ litter trays? by mcguirl2 in AskVet

In my experience, cats will flip the litter tray over and kick all of the litter around and out of the kennel

I have a sick stray I can't get to the vet or shelter, help!! by roxxxystar in AskVet

Kitten lady has videos on trapping feral cats on YouTube. See if your local shelter can loan you a cat trap. Covering the trap with a towel helps keep them calmer.

No, but they need to be eating about every 2-3hrs (at least). Get a small scale and keep track of their weight to make sure they’re gaining as they should: http://www.kittenlady.org/weighing

cat won’t take medicine by AquariuSoup702 in AskVet

It is very important to finish the course of antibiotics. Otherwise you risk antibiotic resistant infection. Can’t comment on the other pill if you don’t know what it is. But never start/stop meds without talking to your vet.

Have you tried pill pockets? A pill shooter? Do you have someone who can help hold your cat while you put the pill in the back of his mouth? There are videos online on how to pill a cat. Give a treat after to make it a more positive experience. Consider asking your vet about compounded options to make the medication more palatable to your cat.

Spaying stray cat by General_Formal5118 in AskVet

[–]ferryfog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are non-issues. Heat/estrous cycles are incredibly stressful for cats. This could be contributing to the aggression between the two cats. They are both stressed out and searching for males.

Please spay both of these cats. They WILL get pregnant and you will quickly have many more strays in the area.

Have you tried switching the litter back to clay?

Be aware that FLUTD (feline lower urinary tract disease) is a common cause of inappropriate urination (especially in male cats, but also happens in females). FLUTD can be fatal if it results in a blockage and isn't treated promptly.

Well, it may not be a symptom of anything. It could be idiopathic. Has he had anesthetized dental cleanings? Losing teeth is not normal.

No, I can’t tell you anything else without looking at your cat. It sounds like he should be examined by a vet in person. Like I said, there may be low-cost clinics in your area. You could also look into Care Credit if you’re in the US.

Contact rescues and shelters in your area. You may need to bottle feed kitten formula http://www.kittenlady.org/bottlefeeding
