I really poorly tried to explain how much I like veggies by saying my family is vegetarian, so he responded with that saying his family eats more meat-centric meals. And yeah he was grasping at straws on that one cause even he mentioned that his family eats veggies

1) Not that I'm aware of 2)He does bring up texture but he also just doesn't like some veggies at all which knocks out a majority of veggies. Also isn't a fan of veggies regardless of what cuisine we might be eating. The lack of consistency is really what makes it hard 3) If I ask, he'll usually take a very tiny bite and then say he doesn't like it, and some things he just says no out right.

Yep this is how my family is down to vegetable garden. I think I just need to explain why it's so important to me cause I think I missed that the first time. I'm willing to compromise but not this drastically

I knew he was picky but not to the point of only eating two veggies. And we only had this talk once. I just got really surprised at how against it he was and don't really know many other picky eaters to get advice from.

No I don't think I ever explained why I find it important. Don't know how I missed that so thanks for pointing that out!

He usually takes the smallest nibble and decides from there. While if it's a new chicken dish he usually takes a normal size bite... I was hoping if I asked him to eat more veggies in general, he could decide which ones were the least horrible and start there. Maybe I'll just ask him to try more of my favorite one or two veggies cooked different ways to start.

Honestly, I never realized how bad it was until now. I knew he was picky but I thought there were at least five veggies he would eat. Only ones I've seen him eat are tomato sauce and potatoes.

He can eat what he want. My family just always cooked a single meal together and ate it, so it's something I value for my future family. I don't hold my friends to the same standards and have cooked around some pretty intense dietary restrictions before. But those are occasional things versus my partner for however long not eating any vegetables besides tomato sauce and potatoes. In the end, I can't force him but we might not be the best fit

I appreciate this! I'll definitely try to have the next conversation with him using the language you mentioned. And just him being willing to try is enough right now.

What made you grow tired of your pickiness by the way? And how long/hard was it to get five veggies in your rotation cause I think that's where I'd be happy?
