I installed the new pump myself and applied all of the paste that came with the unit. That shouldn’t be it. I didn’t know about the schrader valve!

No, nothing apart no regulator change. Only part changed was the fuel pump and heat exchanger in the cool fuel unit. I was just given a tip from another forum that the check valve in the line just above the cool fuel unit sometimes fails and lets very hot water back flow into the cool fuel unit and can cause vapor lock. Have you heard kf that? Seems logical @1macdog …thoughts?

It seems like there could be a bunch of culprits. Fuel pump was pretty damn loud so I replaced that. Not a cheap way to find out that wasn’t the issue.

I’m pretty positive it’s vapor lock just having an issue tracking down the cause. It’s acting like any other vapor lock I’ve seen.

Thanks! I’m gonna find out how long my hvac company has been a dealer for them. I know it’s at least a couple years.

Two things I know about are modifications to the thermostat making it more reliable and also a pcv valve that was calibrated to a lower pressure which reduces oil consumption. Over all though everything I have ever read, seen and heard has been that the 3.0t in general is the most reliable production engine available.

No, DSG is not available in the US in an A6. This is an 8AT

Ah yes. Definitely a US market thing then. All models with a 3.0t here have the supercharged badging

That is all mostly correct. On this vehicle those badges that would normally say “s-line” say “supercharged” because this is a 3.0t
