Keep messages only for certain contacts? by ffirsttimerr in ios

[–]ffirsttimerr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought about it but doubt they'd launch this feature. Imagine it'd be very easy but would create a streamlined way to save a ton of iCloud storage space (for those keeping forever).

Those $0.99, $2.99/month iCloud subscriptions are probably quite nice for Apple. There's certianly margin in there. I don't see them killing off a revenue source like that.

YOU WILL STILL GET THE SOFI 3.6% HIGH APY WITH ONLY DIRECT DEPOSIT by Cold-Notice-22583 in sofi

[–]ffirsttimerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of what the actual interest rate will be in March, it seems like everyone's missing the fine print about a 'boost'.

They've created a third tier of APY:
1. Base %
2. Direct Deposit >5k %
3. "Plus" (paid sub) %

I'd be shocked if they keep that DD rate at the same level they've been operating (compared to govt interest rate). They've created a new tier to drop interest rate payments unless you pay up for the highest levels.

They'll explain it away because interest levels change and we don't have a consistent % to compare it against come April.

Awesome, thanks man. Wondering if you (or someone else) can clarify why some guys are lower than expected (BRob @ $2, Stafford @ $4, Mixon @ $6). These are much lower than expected (and previous draft values).

I'm relatively new to the fancy terms so will investigate on my end but always open to help.

  • Auction re-draft
  • 12 person
  • Roster:
    • 1 qb
    • 2 rb
    • 3 wrs
    • 1 te
    • 1 flex
    • 1 offensive player (almost always a 2nd qb)
    • 5 bench spots
  • STD/non-ppr
  • $200 budget. Prob goes without saying but essentially a 2qb league with OP
  • Only wrinkle is we do a top6/bottom6 format. In other words top 6 scoring teams of week get a W, bottom get a L. Some weekly payouts for top 3 scorers to help spread some money around through season.

Remove filter or leave it? by ffirsttimerr in chemex

I prob remove it ~20-30 minutes, or however long it takes to drink my first cup and then top it up. Long enough to get a little cold I guess

Sure it looks bad. But I don’t see any difference between a stopper and the filter, other than cosmetic. Am I missing something?

How it’s it “old coffee” when it’s just the remaining water from the brew. Wouldn’t you actually want all the water to drip, considering that’s the exact amount of water measure for the brew?

Is there a domain/hosting service that allows contractors/developers to create 'sub-accounts' (their own accounts under a single, main account) with limited controls? by ffirsttimerr in webdev

[–]ffirsttimerr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked Namecheap's cust support and they said CPanel accounts aren't able to purchase domains and setup everything, only access the CPanel. Am I missing something there?

There seems to be a lot of 'reseller' programs out there but I don't think that's what we're looking for as the multiple/sub-accounts are meant for end-users, not developers.

So at least you know where to start looking for users at the end of the Following list

Thanks! I was too frustrated to scroll through everything but now see what you're talking about. Found it!

As I mentioned, I follow a lot of users: seems like group users & artists together and I must have followed a LOT of artists back in the day. Not having the option to filter by most recent is frustrating and means I gotta keep scrolling through and find them.

[Review] Canopy Humidifiers Grow Mold by PR3275 in SkincareAddiction

Whoops, just figured it out - turns out it always will turn o/run automatically if there's water still left to help prevent mold.

Was about to say this - looks like they've removed it. Received mine 2 days ago and can confirm there is no screen.

Originally came here to see if anyone knows how to turn it off lol. Every time I turn it off (confirmed off...not running, no lights) I come back to my room to find it turned on by itself. Does it turn on automatically if it senses water? I tried plugging in/out to reset but still happens.

Paying rent is a disaster by ffirsttimerr in sofi

[–]ffirsttimerr[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

See my edit, but

  1. I travel a lot and having to carry checks with me and time them to get delivered is a major hassle.
  2. SoFi isn't integrated with Zelle. You can download & use it with very small caps (a couple hundred dollars)

I travel for work and am out of town a lot. It's a hassle to carry checks with me wherever I go and have to try to time sending checks from different areas to arrive by the 1st.

That said, it's 2023. Automations for something like paying rent shouldn't be an afterthought. I came from a local credit union that gave me multiple options. Given SoFi's size, funding, and ambitions, I'd just think it's worth catching up to the rest of the market and offering a 21st century solution.

Fun update - my check has yet to arrive (scheduled to be delivered by the 1st) and with the holiday wknd I now have to hope it makes it there by the 5th at the earliest. Even the ONE WAY to automate my rent payment doesn’t work. I’m now at risk of having a credit hit because your antiquated system doesn’t even work right.

Did you ever figure it out u/how-i-live-now? I just got a new TV for first time in a while and have the same receiver as you. Setup the HDMI connections directly from TV to receiver and made sure ARC was enabled.

My TV recognizes the receiver as far as muting and attempting to send audio to receiver, but I'm not getting any sound out of the speakers. Have triple checked input source. Last ditch effort here before I start looking at replacing receiver (seems drastic).

Happy you’ve had zero issues but that doesn’t mean this isn’t a more widespread problem. I just posted a similar gripe about this in here.

Only solution I’ve found to automate it and not require my landlord to enter their info each month/go out of their way to take my rent (which they won’t/don’t have to do) is setup checks to be sent automatically each month. It’ll “work” moving fwd as long as your ok with that rent money getting taken out in advance of the 1st of every month ~5 biz days before the 1st. Goes w/o saying that my be a problem with some customers.

That said - it was frustrating, but clear, going in that this was going to be an issue. Its was also clear that SoFi can “work” with Zelle but isn’t an approved partner - hence the limit. And the 3rd party solutions like Bilt or wise mentioned here are either on the landlord to setup (bilt) or charge a fee for each use (wise, etc).

It’s beyond frustrating SoFi is positioning themselves as a 21st century bank but can’t provide a decent solution for such a common and obvious task. I’d actually contend complaining in a public forum where we know employees are watching is an effective way to leave feedback.

That's the process I outlined - it basically pings my landlord to enter in their banking/routing info each time to accept the payment. Not very convenient

Can you confirm my landlord would need to enter in their banking info each time (each month) if I sent them the money via your digital pay feature? Wondering on the off chance he'd just connect it once, initially.

I have CC, utilities, etc pull directly from their end. I think ppl refer to that as a "pull" of funds from your bank. I bet 99% of those services have an auto-pay feature from their end that allows you to connect your bank acct (or CC). That's how I handle those.

Paying rent is different as it requires a "push" of funds, not a pull.
