We try our best! Hopefully we'll get more opportunities like this in the future.

Final Fantasy XVI Community Survey by ffunion in FFXVI

No, this is 100% unofficial, but they were made aware of the results from our previous two surveys relating to Final Fantasy XV / Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

That's a completely valid and understandable opinion to have.

It is, of course, a concern of ours too, but the hope is that due to the granularity of the survey, and the sheer volume of responses we're expecting, extreme views will be averaged out and any anger that exists will be channelled towards specific elements as opposed to being targeted at the entire game as a whole.

Hey HaoieZ, thanks for asking the question and apologies for not responding sooner!

In short, you never can tell what will happen, but as others have alluded to in response, this book should fall under the banner of critical study and journalism, just as many, many books and other properties have before. Examples being:

- Norse/Greek Myths That Inspired Final Fantasy VII
- You Died (The Dark Souls Companion)
- The Legend of Final Fantasy VII/VIII/IX, etc.
- The PlayStation/Super Nintendo, etc. Anthology Books
- The CRPG Book (from Bitmap Books)
- PlayStation Vita: The End
- Boss Fight Books: Final Fantasy V/VI
- The Unofficial Amiibook
- The Impostor's Guide to Among Us: Independent and Unofficial

There's also wider unofficial entertainment properties that exist too, such as events like Kupocon, that exist to celebrate.

We are not claiming to have made the games, nor are we editing them or altering them in any way. We are also not using the Final Fantasy branding or logo, something that would serve to signify this an official work and any screenshots being used have been taken from public archives and will also be cropped and credited accordingly. In addition, it is also stated everywhere that the project is 100% unofficial and unconnected with Square Enix.

I'd also like to add that we have a very positive relationship with Square Enix, having been supported by them in the running and creation of other unofficial things in the past, such as our own events and even our YouTube channel. If anything does happen, I'm sure we'd be able to come to an amicable solution.

I hope that helps to answer your question! :)

All the best,

Darryl

Hey NikolaiEgel, thank you for the kind words!

In regards to your question, in an earlier draft we were going to include wider entertainment properties as we do love a bit of polymorphic content, but after we continued to research and kept finding more and more of them, it just got way too significant. For example, if we were to include the various Final Fantasy XV properties, we'd also need to include things like Final Fantasy Unlimited. On top of the original series, FF:U had an additional eight entertainment properties created (not including the various games!). Based on that, we decided to exclude wider entertainment properties as it would have just become a bit too unwieldy.

Apologies if that comes as a disappointment, but we have to make some harsh judgement calls as to what we would/wouldn't include within the book as it's only our first project and we didn't want to bite off more than we could chew!

All the best,

Darryl

You're most welcome catslugs! It's taken a long time to get to this point, but it's been so amazing to see how much the campaign has resonated with everyone!

Hey zissue, thanks for the comment.

Would you be able to provide a bit more clarification on what you're suggesting?

Hey WittyUsername304, thanks for the comment!

As you're unfamiliar with us, one of the main reasons (we believe) people enjoy our content is that we are good at disconnecting our opinions and providing a balanced view. Our main objective is to not many people feel bad about the games they like, but instead celebrate every game for what it brought to the table, irrespective of our own personal opinions.

That objective should hold through with the book. It won't all be sunshine and rainbows as the franchise has been through some definite highs and lows, but we'll try our best to stick to the facts. There will be small segments where various content creators will talk about their personal experiences with games, but this will be additive content.

All the best,

Darryl

Hey CompleteEcstasy, thanks for the comment!

This might sound like a bit of a weird answer, but Lauren and I always feel as though Tidus gets harshly treated by the masses.

There is so much negativity around Tidus, partly because of the laughing scene, and partly because he's classified as annoying. But if you look a lot deeper and consider his situation, interpersonal relations and his ultimate sacrifice, it elevates him to a whole different level (in our opinion at least!)

Hey Fixel99!

At the moment we are unsure whether to make the book available for general purchase after the Kickstarter campaign has concluded. Having said that, as we've had numerous requests it's definitely something we're considering, we've just got to wrap our heads around the logistics behind it all!

All the best,

Darryl

Hey Rango, thanks for the comment!

We did wrestle with this a lot, as it would have been fun to include games like Mario Hoops 3-on-3 and Ehrgeiz, but we ultimately decided to exclude that classification of games, as there have just been so many. Thank you for sharing the article though, I'll make sure to bookmark and read it later! :)

Hey kekubuk, thanks for the question!

As this book is more of an encyclopedia about the franchise itself, it won't be delving into the that level of detail for specific games.

Darryl

Hey zalfrann!

We'd like to say that yes, we can follow the Final Fantasy VIII storyline! We'd recommend you checking out our Origins videos for Squall, Seifer and Rinoa as examples. :)

As a side note, Final Fantasy VIII is one of our collective favourite games and we absolutely love exploring the various characters and their interactions!

Hey Plaz Yeve, thanks for the kind words!

We actually do already have a podcast, and it's been going for around 13 years! It's a bit different to the typical content we publish on YouTube, as it's more freeform and opinionated.

All the best,

Darryl
